Thread: New Player City Structures

A recent complaint about exploiting has brought to my attention the need for new player city structures. I have seen many people fortify their faction bases in walls made of generic or naboo medium houses. I think that player cities need buildable walls and roads. A player city should be a city, not just a collection of houses. It should be able to be a fortress just like the player city specialization says. If you have anymore ideas for new player city structures post them here. I dont know where else to post this.

Ok, I can list structure ideas all day long.

Defensive turret tower: these towers contain a turret that does not autofire, but rather must be manned in order to be used. These towers would be similar to the observation towers we see at the various rebel and imperial bases, where you have to walk up a few flights of stairs. This would allow the player (if a militia member) to use the turret against anyone outside the city walls (and not a citizen).

Defensive Wall: This wall unit can be used to connect turrets and gates and surround the player city so that it is accesable only via certain controlled areas. These walls can also be built inside cities to section it off to slow down invading armies.

Gate: this gate can be set to various levels of readiness, anything from allowing only citizens to enter, allowing only citizens and overt rebel or imp faction members, citizens and overt/covert rebel or imp faction members, or neutrals only, or allow anyone in. These gates can be attacked, and if breached, allow attacking forces access to the town through that particular gate. Militia members are able to grant access through the gate regardless of gate setting.

Post Office: similar to bazarrs in that sending something would cost creditsand wouldonly be available for a handful of days, the post office allows city members to trade with each other without having to neccesarily be on at the same time. This structure could also raise funds for the city viaa postage tax. The potential exists to send things to other towns (for more credits) so long as they have a post office as well, with a PO box for that individual.

Player City Stables: the stables would allow for quick mount healing, and perhaps even allow for buffing your mount.

Player City Hotel/Casino: would allow players to rent a room if they so wish (basically renting storage for say, 50 items). Would also allow for a player city casino (the two games we have now are fine, though some new additional games would be nice) This would be another great source of income for player cities, as you could create some kind of tax on winnings, and perhaps a percentage of losses get paid to the city.

Player City Mall: this structure (not a tent) would be set up in a fashion that makes it much like a shopping mall, allowing for several of the city's crafters (without the merchant profession) to sell their goods at pre-created shops (have there be a player city vendor for each crafting profession in the mall, along with a general items or resources vendor. Perhaps make this a master merchant placeable building though. Perhaps including a hair salon and a gym for image designers to hang out in and ply their trade as well.

City HQ: this military type command HQ would provide an additional passive bonus of some sort to all militia members if a politician or SL is present. This would allow you to watch the battle of the city from a map type view with your member's names on it, or switch camera views from militia member to militia member. If the enemy takes the HQ, they would get some kind of faction bonus or something. This structure should allow people to place a rebel or imperial faction recruiter as well.

Let me know what you guys think, maybe ill come up with more later.

This Link is a post from another forum. The person came up a new player city structure, the Arena. It's to be place by master brawler classes, example is master swordsman. I expanded a bit on it though. Since I proposed the structures be made by master architects, I wanted to get some more input.

Nice idea. I like the idea for NPC fighters. They'd have to be 0 XP though or it would be used for XP farming. Would be fun to be able to have staged fights for fun and wagering though.

I recommend posting the idea in the existing On Going New Structure Idea Thread. I just bumped it.

I think its time they added new city structures for player cities.. Like hotels and casinos.. Dojos for TK and Shooting ranges or Armorys for ranged professions... maybe little diners for the chefs out there and Bio Engineering labs for BE.

/sarcasm on
w-t-f have these got to do with Jedi or combat?, why should SOE waste time and effort on this kind of crap, when there are 1000's of whiny Jedi to help out. You really need to think hard about what is truly important here.
/sarcasm off

I wish, but lets face it we cant even get a simple few bugs fixed that would at least make the rubbish we have for tools and content work

You need decaf.

And for a dojo, there's a really nice one on Bloodfin and a "makeshift" one in the city hall of Ammon, Rori, Infinity if you wanna come check it out.

They need to add a lot more decoration based buildings, such as a casino or a hotel, or apartment structures that are purely for decoration and give a city more of a city atmosphere. I'd like a few Tatooine towers myself.

I'd just like player city specific buildings that are more urban and actually fill their footprints. Can't have too many larges in my town due to space but even if we did we just lost the street look on that block. Way too much wasted space around them among other things. Stop the sprawl, it's killing the durnis!
