Thread: Larges Houses: Do you have to be a Master ARTISAN to build one??

Upon trying to build a torch, I noticed that I cannot make an Electronics GP Module. I read on the boards somewhere that you have to have to be a MASTER ARTISAN just to make one of these modules, which means you have to be a Master Artisan to make a torch (unless you want to buy components, which I don't).

Since I've hit this bump along the road in making a small item like a torch, my question is this:

Do I have to be a Master Artisan in order to build large homes?

If there are more components I will not be able to create for large homes due to my not being a Master Artisan, I'd rather find out now so I don't waste time/resources building XP for Architect.

Thanks

No. I am not master art but have build a large home. If your not seeing the large home in your list then your not at the right crafting station. Public ones do not work for large homes. You have to have access to one in a player house. As an architect you can build these. There are parts required for the station only a DE can make and parts that only a master art can make.

But even at that you can buy these parts so again the answer is no.

But will I be able to make all of the components required to make a large home? Or will I need to buy large home components from a Droid Engineer or Master Artisan?

Also, are you saying that even when I qualify to build large homes, large homes will not appear as an option to me unless I'm at the appropriate crafting station? I thought crafting stations only gave you additional XP and helped make a better item,I didn't realize they were required for certain items.

Please straighten me out, I'm confused. Thanks

Certain items require no crafting station at all. Higher level items require a crafting station, (either public or private). The highest level are items that require a private crafting station. A novice Architect can build the private crafting stations.

In order to make power units you need parts from a master artisan though. The only thing I know of that requires power units are PA halls.

FYI Rath, Power Core Units are needed by Droid Engineers to make certain droids (such as Power Droids).

I realize you were talking about structures, but I just thought I'd throw this info out there. Architects can make a nice little sideline business by providing PCUs to Droid Engineers.

Yes. Assuming you have a structure factory.

Or will I need to buy large home components from a Droid Engineer or Master Artisan?

No.

Also, are you saying that even when I qualify to build large homes, large homes will not appear as an option to me unless I'm at the appropriate crafting station?

The Corellia and Tatooine houses will show up. The Naboo house (see below) and possibly the generic house require a station.

I thought crafting stations only gave you additional XP and helped make a better item,I didn't realize they were required for certain items.

No, there are two main reasonsfor crafting stations. The first is, they allow you to produce schematics for a factory. The second is that they give you the ability to make more complex items. This is how it works, although the numbers may be off a bit:

With a generic tool, you can make items with a complexity of up to 15.

With a specific tool, you can make items with a complexity of up to 20.

Standing near a public station, and using a specific tool, you can go up to 25.

Standing near a private station, and using a specific tool, you can go up to the max complexity.

I know for sure that with large houses, the Tatooine and Corellia houses both show up when using just the Structure tool (complexity of those two is listed as 18), but the Naboo house doesn't show up unless you're standing next to a station (complexity listed as 21).

A Large house needs a Power core unit. At least the one I made a few days ago did, Large Tatooine House. Which you need 2 Master Artisan pieces to create. Energy Distributor and Power condition I think.

These are very cheap to make. I bought 10 of each for 100c each., Not sure if that was average or not, but I was expected 1-2K each when I first realized I couldn't make them.

a power core unit, needed in large houses and PA halls, requires 2 master artisan parts. they are the power conditioner and the energy distributor.

why would you think you have to be a master artisan. I know a few, buy them from them. e.c.o.n.o.m.y

If you want to do ALL of the architecture stuff BY yourself... then YES you have to be a master artisan to build large homes, large harvesters, and player association halls (as well as the pesky torch).

This IS as intended, so that we have to work together with other artisan trees (OR spend our skill points on master artisan).

You WILL need a factory on top of master artisan components as well.
