Thread: Possible solution to Construction uselessness

It may have been brought up before, but I've only been Architect for a short period of time and a search didn't bring anything up that I could see...

Color.

Why can Armorsmiths and Tailors color their goods and Architects can't? I'd LOVE the ability to have a matching couch and loveseat and chairs. Even nicer would be the ability to craft "wallpaper" and "carpet" so I can redecorate the interior of my houses. Think about what you could do with the ghastly Generic houses. It's not only more goods (paint kits, wallpaper kits, maybe even roof color and siding kits?) to make and sell in our limited scope of redundant furniture, but it will help vary what's out there.

Any thoughts?

I thought the Testcenter patch was going to begin to implement experimentation for us.

Yes, the same one that caused everyone to panic about hopper sizes also gives us Experimentation for at least harvesters. Based off of what they said in the announcemnet, we are getting experimentatation AND keeping the current hopper sizes. Yay!

I'm all for experimentation of hopper sizes, as long as they don't make it a daily chore to empty a medium or heavy. But the process is a little different as it's not actually experimentation, it's an added step in crafting...

I started off as an Armorsmith and gave it up for guild reasons, but I was 2-1-2-4 in Armor and 0-2-0-2 in Tailor. In both the Tailor and Armorsmith crafting stages they have added windows to chose color in the pane that contains the "Name Item" box. Some things have less color options than others, but almost all clothing and armor has some coloring to it, with a majority of clothing having a primary and a trim color. That has no relation to experimentation. It's purely a skill level-based addition. Const I would give 5 colors, Const II an additional 10, etc. Master would grant the full40-50 color pallette.

I guess if you've never tried Tailor or Armor, you wouldn't be aware of that, so I hope this explanation helps out.

I'm familiar with changing colors for clothes and armor, I'm just saying that Construction is not going to be useless for much longer.

And honestly, I kind of find minor tweaks to coloration of models to be almost as useless as no customization at all.

Basically what they are doing with experimentation on test is that yes it's added for hopper size BUT the baseline for hopper size will remain the 50k that it is. With a 50K hopper it takes 5 days on a 100% vein to be filled. We all know how rare a 100% vein is (I've never seen one) or even a 90% vein is. Combine the max a person can harvest in a day with the 7-10 day resource shifts and increasing a hopper above 50k is rather pointless. On rare occasions you might get some use out of a 60-70k hopper but it would not be the norm.

So yes they added experimentation. Is that experimentation worthwhile and effective to do? Will it make people clammer to buy the highly experimenatal harvesters over the non experimental harvesters? No
