Never posted on the boards before, mainly because I never had a reason to.

Anyway, don't know how noobish this is gonna make me sound, but I have found that Interior Decoration can be quite fun, and I was wondering, is there already a set price to this service, or is it still under debate. If some people could tell me what they paid/would pay, I would really apreciate it.

Anyway, I am an arch, I enjoy making furniture, but I do not enjoy placing it. But, on the flip-side I need someone to make my house look good so that I can get good furniture sales. I'd be willing to provide all the furniture as well as pay quite well for someone to actually come in and do interior design for me.

This past weekend was the first time my furniture show-house actually payed off. I bought in an extra 16K credits in furniture alone (he would have spent more, but just didn't have it) just because someone liked the look of the inside of my house.

I am a Master WS, a Master Arch, a Master Artisan, and I like to dabble in the artisan level food from time to time too. With keeping up with 14 harvesters,1 fusion power gen (soon to be two), 7 factories, and two houses, I just do not have time to actually spend on decorating my Medium Naboo House.

I WOULD LOVE for an interior designer with some good taste to come in and completely remodel the place for me. Give it a HUGE overhaul. I'd be more than willing to provide all the furniture (probably mostly all master Furniture IV or master level stuff) and let you use your creative juices to get my place looking NICE!

I love decorating myself. This weekend I accepted my first interior decration commision. I was wandering the same thing myself and here is what I did and a few hitches I realised along the way.

A customer purchased a medium house and placed it. He liked my shop design that he wanted me to fully decorate his enite house.

At first my reaction was ... yeah right lol. Then the wheels started turning and I realised it could be pretty fun. He wanted a price and I honestly couldn't give him one since he was giving me freedom to decorate to my choosing. This was a huge problem for me. I told him I would need some time to work up an estimate.

He admined me to the house and logged off. I ran on over with all my resources and my trusty little R2 (who i want to name furna-kit but the dam bug wont let me rename driods ) and got to work.

I was dropping stuff like crazy setting up the house. I made a simple spread sheet on my other computer and kept track of what I dropped and how much I usually sell it for.

When I finished (about an hour and a half or so later) I tallied everything up and it came to about 120K. I don't work for free so I bumped that to 150K. He still wasn't online and this is when all the problems with doing this really sunk in.

What if he is on another toon and just removes me from the admin list? What if he just logs back on and does the same? What if he isn't back before I have to log, do I just leave this stuff here? What if he doesn't even like it? etc. I started getting a sinking feeling in my stomach.

Luckily I have multiple accounts. So I grabbed one of my other toons dumped everything they had in the back ran him out there and picked everything up. (I took screenshots of everything before removing it from many angles per room)

Sure enough he had not come back before I logged. The next day he contacted me. I told him the price and told him I had the screenshots. After emailing them to him he told me he really liked the set up, tipped me the cash and I went and set everything back up.

Now this was the first time I did this so it was a real good learning leason. If I do this again in the future here are some things I would do differently.

1.) Do not furnish a house you do not own. If they purchase the house from you and they want it furnished have them either a.) refund the money for the house and place it where they want it, or b.) Have them transfer the house to you once it is placed. Now the problem with lots comes into play, like i said i have multiple accounts and this will work for me but not most others. The only thing I can suggest i get payment or at least partial payment upfront before placing anything in their house. It only take a / command for them to rob you of your items, time and money.

2.) Try to get an idea of designs they like. Ask them if they would like master furniture due to the prices on it. Ask them if they like plants, a more modern look etc.. get an idea what they are looking for first since you will most likley be crafting on the fly.

3.) Bring factory made torches. I just recently started making torches in the factory. Let me tell you it is a godsent and they fly off the vendor like hot cakes I used 20 torches in his house, if I had to make each one it would have taken that much longer.

4.) As for pricing. In the future I think I am going to charge 30K for a small house, 50K for a medium house, and 75K for a Large or PA plus the cost of the furniture. I think these prices are very reasonable for the amount of time ivested crafting and setting everything up. I just decorated my PA this weekend and it took the better part or 3-4 hours.

5.) Find out how much space they want left for storage and which rooms are ok to leave empty. Thanks to SoE's craptastic database house limits are the suck. The way i had my old medium decorated I was at my 150 cap and did not have the side room or basement furnished at all (miunus my 4 crafting stations). If you want to get fancy there are sacrifices to be made you cannot make everyroom of a house look like a palace.

hey there, i have been providing thsi service for a while and i see that the pricing depends on size of hosue and amount of furniture...and type of furniture..... i usually provide the furn 4 type furnishing with plants and a fe extras included and at about 2-3 hours of crafting and placing in a med house i walked away with 15k and 10k on a small so it depends .... plus not to mention , i was asked for by name due to prior work .....hope this helps

I'm and interior designer/Master Architect on the Lowca Server. I think the furniture placement is great fun, and I recently advertised on the server board. Got a lot of responses. My pricing structure (flat rate)was:

200K PA hall, 170K Large House, 80K Medium House, 30K Small House

(I'm currently revising the cost structure - been feeling a little not-worth-my-while lately)

This would include custom naming, in color if they wished. Insist on half up front as a down payment. I have a guild behind me, so if they didn't come up with the rest of the cash, I could have had them as my "collection agency". In fact they probably would have welcomed the chance. My plan has proved unnecessary as all of my clients have all paid up upon completion, and have thrown in bonuses as well. If they live on some remote planet (two were on Dantooine) I charge for travel expenses.

If they have the furniture already, I charge 20K per hour to place it. or if they want to just talk about it as a consultation, 10K per hour plus travel expenses. I also do just rooms (some pa's just want to set up the main room, for eg) and then charge for the furniture, plus the hourly rate and travel. OR if they want just a fireplace (thanks to the Architect forum for the idea! ) or a terranium, I charge by the piece - 5-7K for a fireplace and jeese, I don't know what for a terranium (just completed a big one, but I still haven't figured out how much to charge for it). I have alot of clients wanting a (hehe) bulk-discount, which ends up really bugging me, cuz they start with that talk after I'm exhausted at 2am after spending 5 hours making their place looking fabulous. Recently, I have asked for a budget to work with, and an item limit. This is important since youcan hit the item ceiling really quickly especially in a pa where you have 3 or 4 members actually living there in the basement.

Word of advice: it really really helps to set up macros for furniture placement. I have10 macros, and I bless the day I took the time to set them up - a real life saver:

/move forward 1 /move back 1

/move forward 10 /move back 10

/move forward 50 /move back 50

/rotate left 1 /rotate right 1

/rotate left 45/rotate right 45

I also keep mycrafting stations on the same toolbar.

Well, have fun. You meet a lot of interesting people out there, that's for sure. But you'd better be willing to deal with the people and not just the furniture. It can be tasking, but youget really proud of your work.

I do this service on Bria, have done about a dozen or so odd houses. Never done a small though

I usually spend 1-2 hours a day for about 2-4 days on a house depending on what im designing. I use furniture, droids, BE animals, missions items (all non craftables must be procured by the owner).

It does take a lot of effort and time to get it just right and presentable

Currently I charge:

300-400k per medium, 400-550k for a large, 600k+ for a PA.

This works out to roughtly 2k per item of furniture + additional costs for the droids/animals/other things i cannot craft. And yes I am typically right near their item limit when Im done as it takes a lot to do up some of these homes, especially the naboo ones as the mediums have loads of rooms. Droid chassis cost anywhere from 5-10k depending on the DE available and pets are 5-10k each depending on the BE available at the time, as well as armour, weapons, musicial stuff.. anything i might use it DOES add up in cost

I really enjoy doing it because it IS fun and i feel that I do make some profit for my time (time is NOT only spent decorating, its spent traveling to the customers house, and all the other crafters to get the things i cannot make). So about 2k per item of furniture pays for the materials and my time spent placing it, also many of the interior design ideas I have to come up with, so like an artist, i dont just sell it for hte price of the watercolors i used to draw it with Keeps me happy so i take on more projects

If the person has no references, I ask for half hte payment upfront. And YES I DO have a waiting list.. currently have 3 mediums, a PA and a large waiting to be done. Ive had to turn a few customers away as it would be two weeks til I could get to them, but some wish to be on the list anyways

But really, if the customer spends as long doing missions on endor, as you do on making their home, the price shouldn't be a problem for them. If I did it any cheaper, I dont think I would do it any longer as its a lot of work for little or no gain :/

But I DO love doing it, and its nice to see a happy customer There are not many architects that do this sort of work, I think I am the only one on Bria who takes such orders (wish I COULD find a partner :/), since the money is NO WHERE near the amount you get in 5min work making a few heavies. But it is definitely a rewarding and nice change after all that factory work

Wow the EXACT same thing happened to me! Except my R2 unit is named (Pixel) because I bought it from someone and can't rename it and my total came to 100k... The only thing is, he hasn't been on since the weekend (he's on my friends list so I can catch him, but he just hasn't been on). I'm not TOO worried about getting ripped off, but the thought does linger.

I didn't charge for me coming out to place the furniture, just for the furniture itself... What does everyone charge for furniture? I charge 10cr/unit unless it involves Wooly Hides or Master Architect furniture. Is that about average?
