Thread: I think SWG should have upgrades too houses like DAoC
The only thing I like about SWG housing is that you can place your house anywhere you want (as long as it's in the wilderness away from static locations like static cities). In DAoC you have to buy a lot in certain locations.
But what I like about DAoC housing is that you can upgrade them. You can put a garden on the outside, place a flag of your guild. Maybe in SWG we could place faction flags (Imp/Reb flags) or for neutral players they could place the planet flag. I think having an upgrade capability to SWG housing would be cool because it would make houses more unique. I don't think it would cause more lag because all the images for the buildings would be like any other image for a building. Yes the player can't customize their garden; it would be like a city garden... you can't customize those either. But we still like city gardens around. So this would be like smaller versions of city gardens, just little upgrades that all players can do to their houses. I would also like the ability to upgrade my ramp into stairs (I've never once seen a person in SWG using a wheelchair, why does my house have to be handicapped accessible? Lol). SWG already has the capability to do a minor upgrade; merchants can place a sign on their ramp. That's kind of like an upgrade... it makes your store unique among others that don't have a sign. But I think SWG could go further than just little signs on people's ramps.

Don't talk to me about DAOC housing. You ideas are good being able to upgrade like you said but lets keep DAOC out of this. The way they made you have access to a house was stupid. I wont go into it as you must know what I am talking about.

Yes it was very stupid, I was meaning keep it the way SWG is right now, but be able too upgrade your house like in DAoC. Maybe just have a new menu on the management console and have something like "Upgrade Structure" Then choose an item that can be upgraded like the ramp into stairs. Then it could bring up a new window with the style of stairs. Then choose the style, and click "Upgrade." And it could raise the maintenance of the house like how city beautification items raise the maintenance of the city. Or if you want a garden click on "Garden" then choose a style of garden, maybe not create a custom garden like DAoC where you place items where ever you want in a little lot, but have pre-fabricated gardens like how the city gardens are in SWG. The houses in SWG have a lot wasted land around them, and that could be filled with a garden or something. So it would not take any extra land (lots), it would just be an extension of the house. For example in a large house the sides have wasted land, if you place a large house next to another house, their will be a gap between them. This gap could be filled with something like a garden, fountain, statue, or any other thing you can think of that would look good. I live on Lok, so it's very dull and boring around my house. It would be nice too be able too spruce up my desert oasis!
