Thread: How many architects are losing sales, etc, due to items disappearing bugs?
Today I was making a factory for someone, and when I was about to finsih the last bits, I realized I needed some more copper. So a friend traded me a stack of 500 and I gave him some small stacks and a bunch of cash.
We complete the trade, he gets his stuff, but I get nothing! He had to give me another 500.
Then, I'm about to do final assembly, and suddenly I am missing 3 WALL UNITS! I had just made them in my factory like 15 minutes before, and pulled them out of the crate. I saw them in my inventory, then moved them to a backpack. But now they are gone.
Well, I didn't happen to have another 30 structure blocks laying around to load in the factory for more walls, so I was SOL and so was my client. So I say "I'll have it for you tomorrow" but he's in Germany, and I'm un the US, so we're never online at the same times except on the weekend! What do you think he said? "Oh sure, I'll wait a week for my factory that I already gave you 1000 aluminum to build. Here's the money up front too"
No, that's *not* what he said. And I can't repeat here what I said because it would just get filtered out.
So after 6 more hours of playing, not a single item has come back. I've relogged due to bugs or crashes probably 8 times today, no help.
Anyway, we all have anecdotes, and this isn't the first time I've lost something, but the walls were the second worst. A few days ago I lost a stack of 9000 Iron right out of my inventory.
It took more than two weeks to eventually get returned everything I'd lost in a vendor (a house, some farms, etc). I've lost couches and other furniture. Most of it's been returned eventually by a CSR handing me stuff.
So, how many of you are being affected severely by these bugs? How many of you are ready to give up architect for awhile until things worth thousands of credits stop randomly disappearing?
You can tell your sob story like I did, or just give a number, it's up to you. I want to know how prevalent this is.
I had a medium house in my vendor, guy goes to buy it, buys it. Server crashes, he still has his money, I have no deed. The crates on starsider were all bugged today. I lost 25 bricks and 20 more sitting in my inventory that can't be used in making or transferring over to a factory cause they are all bugged. I also lost a crate of 50 stim Bs today. Picked it up to take two out, put it back in the cargo pack. I check the cargo pack later, no crate.
Who needs crit failures in this game, the server failures do a much better job.

Heh, good point. I'm glad to say that a few hours after my first post, the 3 wall modules came back. I built the factory and stuck it on my vendor, emailing the guy to come get it. I didn't want to, since I don't really trust vendors still, but I figured what the heck.
I never did get the 500 copper back (so far at least). Interestingly I got the walls back after the server hiccupped. I wonder if they reset it... before that lag had been getting real bad for everyone, so I think they did a stealth reboot without telling anyone and it cleared up some stuff.

Your primary mistake was in accepting resources from your customer to complete a structure. You know perfectly well that you can get a critical failure and lose everything, You opened yourself up to that player's hatred.
Any time I accept resources from a player for a job I warn them up front of the possibility of a failure. They all understand. In any case, I'd probably pay the guy for them if they got annoyed, so no big.

Luckily I've never had my structure factory not make all the items I tell it to, but I've only made a total of 3 wall units in it. Mostly I've used it for the basic structure modules. I guess I'll keep the possible loss in mind. Thanks for the warning!
Do I lose resources? Well, my factories eat subcombines every single time. Sigh. If I make a run for 9 wall unitsthey spit out 8, eats 10 structure modules and leaves me with the left over steel and ore. They do the same thing every single time with generator turbines when I makes runs for power cores. Every single time the factories will eat one of my generator turbines and come up 1 short of the power core run. I've tried moving my factory. I even built myself another factory. Same problem every time. Having to make one more wall unit or one more power core for every project is becomming costly. I really wish they would fix it.
