I am attempting to move up the architect tree.. and in fact, just got Engineering IV. Now I'm trying for Novice architect, but I wanted to ask for some basic advice.

To get novice architect requires 33,000 XP and really, I can't see anything that gives more than a tiny bit at a time. And harvester/generator deeds don't give ANY xp. (despite the massive materials needed)

How did some of you guys go about getting Novice architect? Any advice?
I'm not in THAT great of a hurry... well, maybe a little... but going 50xp at a time just doesn't seem very feasible.

I made weapon powerups, which used to give 40XP for just 20 resources. However, the Devs recently reduced the XP given by powerups (it's now 20 I believe).

I also made Heavy Axes, which gave 80XP each. However, you'll need a good supply of wood to make them (as well as minerals). And I grinded out a few hundred Bofa Treats as well, though I've forgotten how much XP they give now.

I believe I've heard people also get good XP from chemical survey devices or some of the other tools.

BTW, you do get XP for making harvesters, but it's Structure Crafting XP, not General Crafting. Of course, harvesters are about the only thing Artisans can make that are in any kind of demand (ie that you can make a little money on), and you'll appreciate having some SCXP when you finally reach Novice Architect (and discover you need 1.3 million XP to reach Master Architect!).

I wouldnt suggest the knife unless your willing to get carpal tunnel syndome you almost triple the amount you have to actually make.

that translates to more time spent destroying and opening craft tools which offsets the time spent double cllicking on a couple of extra resources.

also Don't worry about experimenting .. stay away from the public/private crafting stations... some of the best ways to craft are during downtime from combat .. makea few here make a few there .. fairly soon youll get to Architect

I made bone armor because i got decent xp and actually made money off it. Allthough it seems the market's flooded with bone.. my last chest piece never sold after being on the bazaar for 7 days.

I hit Master Artisan about the same time I hit Novice Architect. I found travel packs to be a good XP item, and they sell well, so you get UXP too.

I've found that the mine powerups are a fine source of General Crafting XP.. although I'd agree that if you had the resources, Travel Packs are nice. But you don't have to be a Domestics expert to make the Mine Powerups. They give between 30 and 40 xp each for "great" and can do up to 60 for "amazing".

And since they're only 10 resources total (6 metal, 4 minerall) they're cheap.

You are running more than one crafting station at a time, I would hope? Trying to make any kind of signifigant xp with only one station up is V E R Y S L O W. Two will get you to 3k in less than an hour..

I never said it was going to be "fun". Grinding xp is tedium. Get that clear now.

Agreed. However...

There are items in the Architect line that will require either you, or someone you know, be a Master Artisan. I figured why not go for it all? Hehe

Kaori is right. I did not go for the master artistan skill and paid the price when I started on my first PA hall project. Its was a bit of a cluster-you-know what trying to find factory made master artistan parts.

As for xp grind for novice architect, that was the most difficult part of Xolie's career. Weapon power ups. 825 weapon power ups, 1000s of clicks it was terrible. However, I hear that soft shirts are 90xp a pop and only use fiberplast and petrochem. Wish I would have known about that when I was grinding.

Getting novice architect is too hard and getting master architect is far too easy. I feel the flames a brewin for that statement but its the truth. There are probably 5 times as many master architects as master weaponsmiths or master armorsmiths. And I have never even seen a master droid engineer.

Do Reinforced Combat staffs they require 1 less resources than heavy axes. and provide the same xp.

15 wood 25 steel in 4 slots - 15 wood 10 metal 10 mineral 5 ferrous. crafting time is like 9 seconds if you plan on selling them look for steel with good shock quality.

Be sure to use 2 crafting tools and you'll need to pump out 412 reinforced combat staffs.

basically about 6500 wood and 11000 steel

if this is too much in wood for you to get (flora farms are good) then do crafting tools. they give 65 per unit and dont require wood.

For pure grinding pleasure - pick something that only requires ONE resource. You will craft faster and you can work the harvesting much easier. I got most of my exp from a basic knife weapon that uses 14 steel and gives 28xp (14 resources usedfor 28 xp). Even as I got higher up I kept making that same item because all it requires is steel.

For a while there were items that gave more than 2 times the amount of resources (which is why everyone talked about making muzzles) but that has been evened out and I now belive the best strategy is to pick something requiring only1 resource.
