Do you mean yellow area? Lairs and POI's that spawn nearby exert a small no-build zone around them. You can destroy the lair (if you're skilled enough to handle the creatures anyway), but unfortuately you'll have to wait fora POI to despawn if that's what's causing it.

hmm no it was red.. i thought it might have been a pile of rocks, the lair of some beasties but no.. oh well i placed it a little way away anyhow thanks

I just reclaimed the deed to my house so i could position the entrance differently, and the red area where you cannot build is where my house was, i was wondering will this go away after a while or do i have to build somewhere else?
