Thread: price check: Bestine Paintings
If they fix it for future paintings then thats fine.
If they intended the schematics to be 2 use and no factory schematics for the first run then thats already ruined. I was kind of giving them the benefit of the doubt that they knew what they were doing ...
You can look at this two ways. If the multi-run schematic was intended, then it allows everyone in the game to own a painting to place in their house. If you think it needs to be two only, then only the rich deserve fine artwork upon their walls. I believe there is room for both in this game just as in real life where prince AND pauper can own a painting and proudly display it in their homes.
Once again, the original instincts of the developers to allow this were more inclusive rather than exclusive of player enjoyment. I believe there should be some multi schematic and limited edition schematic to preserve a proper ratio. This IS NOT an exploit but suggests that someone in development was thinking of the players (thank god for him/her...may you always prevail).

What good is a unique schematic with a max run of 2 if you can create a schematic from it with a max run of 1000?
Even making a manufacturing schematic from these, it's unlikelythe averagearchitect has 50K of the same hide to make a full run of 1000 paintings. So the schematics are limited in that way, if nothing else.
I rather like that we can make a manufacturing schematic and produce them affordably so everyone who wants one can have them. However, there is nothing to say that these schematics will be repeated. What if the current schematic is a one time thing? Whathappens when the architects start running out of the resources used to make that painting? Three years down the road, will the current painting be a rare? I hope so.
I'm surprised they didnt do what they did with the other new schematics, and that is add a loot item to it in order to make it. Like a certain type of ink that only Nightsisters drop or something along those lines. That would definatly limit the number of factory runs someone could do since serial numbers on drop loot change on a regular bases.
For example, as a Master Tailor i can do factory run on lightweight military pack, but it is limited to the amount of Portion Of Heavy Leather I can get from the NPC's that drop it. So if i'm lucky i might get20 POHL with the same serial number, thus limiting me to a factory run of just 19 back packs.
I produced a very moderate (100) factory run of them, of which I've not actually attempted to sell any of, nor placed any on my vendor as of yet. I'll likely just save my other extra 2 or 3 schematics I have and not use them for a long time.
The bazaar (Radiant)is heaped to overflowing with paintings for 6k, which is no surprise.
Personally I like the way it is.
Rarity is defined by people bothering to buy the schematic, number of architects willing to give up the resources to do a large run and the fact that the schematics change (i.e. in a year the current schematic will fetch a higher price as no new ones are being made). If this rarity isn't enough, then possibly shift the schematic to one use only instead of two but with a system of different paintings (each month?) I don't think a run of two makes sense. As per the above post, it's a logical type of furniture, it just has an added rarity value compared to statues which I think makes it more interesting.
I sold my first painting for 5k, second for 10k, third for 20k and fourth and fifth for 30k, which isnow the price I've setttled on.
The sheer volume of identical hides is the key factor, so no one's going to be churning them out by the 1000 - just the 100s here ![]()
Oh, and 25k a time offers me a steady turnover.
