Yes, there is indeed such an apron. I believe the schematic for a crafting apron is found by doing a Jabba quest. The apron has a bunch of variants, and a Tailor won't know which variant it is, until they go to use it.

The apron also requires a couple of looted items (leather and fasteners, I believe), which are needed for the schematic.

For more info, check the tailor forum. I read up on the details once, before going and buying my apron.

My alt'sgot one, I love it! I lucked out on Jabba's quests and nabbed it. I hear they're the rarest of the 4 aprons. Not sure why the devs made one for tailors, but then ignored Chefs and BEs...

The aprons take 2 pieces of heavy duty leather. I think the leather has to be identical.

Wookiees can't wear them currently.

The apron gives +5 structure assembly and +5 structure experimentation.

So correct me if i'm wrong, it's almost useless (for experimentation) unless you get another +5 SEA from somewhere, since the exp point you get are your int(experimentation / 10) thus having +105 experimentation would still only give 10 exp points?

Yes, you'd need another +5 points to get the 10 skill points needed for another experimentation point.

However the +5 structure assembly does not need any more points to be beneficial. How beneficial it is exactly, I don't know.

Oh and be aware that its considered a "vest" for dressing purposes, so can't be used in conjunction with other architect vests, with Aakuan Robes and with other types of clothing.

There is a chef's version and it seems more rare than the architecht one.

I wear mine over a top and bottom and combined with other tapes I bought I have +22 experimentation which results in 2 more experimentation points. Durning the one day crafting change I could see where they really helped, currently they help when you get a fair result or are using poor materials where the extra 2 points can push the results over the top. The big benefit I get right now is more exp points for hopper size on harvesters.

Yay! One less competitor for the SEA auctions!

I've scrapped together +10 myself so far with an apron and some cheap +1 and +2 tapes.

I have three different versions of the schematic and I've heard of a fourth. Lucked out and got the architect one myself and my friend gave me hers that she got from Jabba that has Food Assembly mods for Chef. The other one I have *may* be a weaponsmith one, but I haven't got enough components to make one yet. I've also heard of a medical one.

The tailor can have some idea what kind it is once it's in their datapad. The architect one has a structure tool as a component, the chef one has a food/chem tool (although I would imagine the medical one might as well). The one that I don't know what it is has a dagger as a component.

I read on the trade forums that if you add exp or ass tapes to the apron they do not stack, so you are still left with just +5. Has anybody tried this and know if it is true. I would like to know before I add my tapes to my apron.
