Thread: Harvest ONE thing and do it well.
We need high volumes of materials. A good steel is useless to us if we don’t have enough to do several factory runs with it.
I keep reading about architects running mineral and chem harvesters, or harvesting steel and ore at the same time. When I harvest, I harvest one thing at time. I try to make sure I am on the first or second day of a resource shift. (I take screen shots of the minerals on my surveyor every day.) And I put ALL my harvesters on one recourse at a time. That means one run of lube oil I did several months ago is still good, a run of steel lasts for weeks, a run of ore lasts about a day. My last run of radioactives has given me a virtually endless supply of energy.
This allows me to do factory runs of no less than 100 of any component, usually 500. And do structure runs of 20-100 at a time.
If any resource falls below 1000 units, I throw it away. (I have thought about selling it on the public bazaar, but I am too damn lazy) All my steel takes up only 5-8 spaces, so does my oil, radioactives, aluminum and copper. With my backpack, and 5 droids, I am able to carry almost everything around with me.
If you don’t operated this way, I strongly recommend you start, it takes a couple of weeks to set up, but once you do it is way more efficient.
But all you suggest is a very good practice
High amounts is very important. I tend to use up small amounts of resources to make hand crafted furniture though. As your operation grows, you might try diversification, because as an architect, you generally are missing at least one resource.
