Furniture: I know why it was made soft state a month after release. For those who dont, players were griefing each other by "locking" each other in there house by droping a table or chair infront of the door. Now days however, we have the /eject command. If this wasadvertised in the loading screens then everyone would know about it. Thus furniture could go back to hard state. I dont know about the rest of you but nothing drives me nuts more then walking thru my large sofa at home. I walk in my house and prefer others to do soas well and I try to walk around furniture when Im not in a rush but still... Can we please get this changed back? Just advertise the /eject command and all should be well. Besides havent the griefers moved on to biger better things? Id like to know how the rest of you feel abut this. Lol make it a unoficial poll (not a pention so dont flame the no pentions thread please).

Thank You,

I personally prefer soft. Its less realistic but I just find it easier to deal with, IMO.

I'd prefer if they could make it so my rl house furniture has no collision...lost count of how many times I've nearly broken a toe or knee trying to run through my bed and doorjams trying to get to the bathroom!

The thing is that people would be able to block off a room with say an armor crafting station or maybe a statue and use that as a vendor area to get almost unlimited storage (true it is being capped but still) in a house for free. No risk of losing that holocron for 2 credits when you want to grab it, no reason to use the rest of the house at all.

Besides, I love hiding stuff behind/in things. I use the cabinets or armoires as a means to cover up the backpacks that I hold a few things of storage in so it isn't visible but just as useful.

Ok, aside from the problems mentioned by PsychoticChipmunk, I just don't like collision on the furniture objects. In real life I live in a cluttered house, but I somehow manage not to get stuck on my tables or chairs with my legs running in place continuously. I also manage to shift my body when passing closely around a corner so that my shoulder doesn't get caught on the corner. My avatar has never mangaged to acquire those skills.

For me it ends up being more jarring to see my avatar stuck on the corner of a coffee table, his legs churning, than it is for him to walk through that same coffee table. It's less disruptive to the flow of the game. Now if they would just make the edges of the arches in the city soft so my speeder didn't get hung up on them...

I have my showroom set up such that there is a "traffic" flow, and I'm usually careful to walk the path.

However, I think it would be a massive PITA to have furniture "hard". One question - would you have it "hard" to player characters and "soft" to other items of furniture or "hard" to everything? If "hard to everything", then my answer is a very loud NO. A lot of people are having a good time making "composite" furniture pieces that count on furniture being able to be superimposed on other furniture.

I think that they should be hard because it isnt real enough to walk through a chair.

FulminataXII if you dont like running into things then just walk through the house! I mean how many times do run around in your house!

Replace all references to "running" with "walking" in my original post and the results are the same. Besides, you'd be surprised at just how often I run around in my house

No just hard to toons. Id have it left so you can merge items and walls and what not just like you can now. And folks if you have a clutered mess of a storage room take the extra 5 mins to put stuff on a "shelf" after all this is a game if you cant take the time to do that (or to walk around furniture) your in to big of a hurry and i have to askare you really haveing fun?.

But still, what about people making special private vendors going around the system as implemented to get a storeroom to hold crap or give people special prices (the last one isn't that bad and should be put in anyway)

There is hardly a problem with people walking into things since you normally don't AFK jog around your home, like you do when rocks become a pain, so long as I can stillhave my 5 items on top of each other to create a widget.

That is perfectly possible right now PsychoticChipmunk, just get a vendor and stuff in your items for 999999999 (or something like that) credits, and when you want it back, you just withdraw the sale and get it from the stockroom.
