Thread: A question about the profession post publish 9

I'm not an architect but had a question regarding your schematics post publish 9. As part of the publish one of the things was to remove the ability to use schematics make with unserialized (similar) items which was an explot for other professions but a requirment for this one (wall modules come to mind). Did the removal of this ability change your schematic usage?

Just a curious question

I do not think this applies to architects or many other professions. I believe it mostly applied to weaponsmiths who used Geo cubes with no serial numbers. I don't think it is possible for a crafter to make anything and not have a serial number generated.

So even if I hand craft 10 walls they will all have serial numbers. We do not use any looted items to build things, so this is a non-issue.

I was mostly curious about mix and match for factory runs in this case. Thanks for the info.

It might be an issue. Part of the fix also incorporates a change that means that any schematic that uses a generic, unserialed part (eg an unserialed Geo Cube, or a wall) does not work. While your walls had serial numbers, the harvester schem made from them renders those serials irrelevant, ie. takes a generic serial. This has been changed - you may wish to confirm that you can use any wall in a harvester schem still. Because if you can't, that basically means no more harvester, factory, or house schematics.

And if that is the case and it has been altered the largest factory run of fusions that could be done for example would be 19

Ah, sorry I misconstrued your question. I have never done factory runs of final combines, my business just isn't big enough. I am sure there are some folks who will come talk about this change if it is hurting us.

I have to say i havn't tested this, however there is a difference, our schematics call for similar walls not identical wall and so it doesn't check the serial number.

The exploit worked differently from this, it took a schematic that called for identical items and added one without a serial number, the game considered any item of that type identical to the one without a serial number as the checks would fail (nothing to check against)

Now the schematics cannot work if there is no serial number, but our walls always had serial numbers, they were just never checked, so they will still work in those schematics and still not be checked.

Well thats how i see it, though i will check it out when i get a chance.

I have a number of schematics for heavy harvesters made before Patch 9. Since Patch 9 I have successfully run 3 of them through my factory with a mixed set of walls in the input hopper, so this hasn't changed anything with regards to structural modules or wall modules.

I think "similar" means they are made from the same resources, but they don't need to be made in a factory.

So it doesn't change anything.

I can confirm that this change has not seemed to have affected Architects.

Last night I made a brand new schematic for Fusion Generators. The Ore Mining Unit that I used to make the schematic was experimented to 97%. Once the schematic was made, I looked in my datapad and noted that both the Ore Mining Unit and the Wall Modules did NOT have serial #s attached to them. I then proceeded to run 10 of them, using an assortment of low quality Ore Mining Units, and Wall Modules from different batches. No problems were found, and 10 Fusion Generators were made.

That's cool. I was wondering if it would hinder your ability to do this. We all know how things can go after a publish. Thankl you for your time.

I havent tested it myself yet, but possibly this change did affect the making of BER14 fusions with crappy OMUs. The fusion schematic wasnt asking for a serialized OMU, so you could use cruddy OMU's after making a schematic from a good one.

Now if they have adressed using serialized components, this may have been fixed.

Anyone confirm this? I cant get in game for a few more hours.
