I've been a master architect for over a month now, and I'm hoping to expand my business. My goal is to stock all types of harvesters, and with any leftover materials stock some houses and factories.
I've got a handful of each type of medium harvester, plus some heavy minerals and fusions. My main bottleneck is walls - I have enough high HR/SR/UT materials to do final combines til the cows come home (well, in relation to my wall production anyway).
My question is: should I concentrate all my efforts on making medium harvesters for a few weeks, then, hopefully with a decent cashflow, jump into the heavy harvester market? This approach seems reasonable to me, since with 100k ore I can pump out 100's of BER 10 medium mineral harvesters, compared to just a few heavies. I have read some older posts by some of the members of this forum community, and it seems that some of you have started your businesses this way. I was wondering if, at this stage of the game, is there still a market for a vendor that only stocks medium harvesters?
Thanks for any advice,
Kyrid
PS: Don't tell me to sell furniture...I am tailoring as well, and doing both would take WAY too much time.

It's difficult to give a definitive answer, as with most things it depends upon the economy of the server you are on. Having said that I would be surprised if there was not a market for medium harvesters whatever server you are on, these are usually the harvester of choice for static lot miners as well as a stepping stone for newer players who harvest resources for one or other reason. It would surprise me as well if there is not room for another medium harvester seller on any server, since architects will tend to move on to make heavies in much the way you are planning to yourself. My experience was that the best sellers in the medium range were the minerals, which was handy since they take structural modules rather than wall modules, I don't know if that is still the case though.

I can't speak for everyonebut I think the majority of the market is buying Heavies over Mediums.
To add to that, I'm also guessing because of the Jedi revamp, itwill bring a stop (or at least abig decrease) in Hologrinding - meaning that there will also be less demand for harvesters, factoriesand resources as characters now have NO reason to grindthru all professions - which in the end means less sales ofharvesters, factories and resources. Also, this market was tailored (excuse the pun) for the more matured character who had the money and reason to purchase them. In reality, the market willfall back orinto the new players or (new) players who are advancing in profession and wealth to purchase/upgrade to medium or heavies and a factory to add to their growing business.
As deeds for most structures (harvesters, factories, houses) don't crate - you don't want to get stuck having them in and taking up valuable storage if they don't sell or sell very slowly.
Myadvice, maybe put 10 of each type of harvester on your vendor and monitor the activity for awhile before you commit on a plan. Although you can easily make hundreds of mediums, you may not sellthem as often. Find the demand and fill it.
