Yes, you read that correctly. If you don't keep up on the main discussion board fast enough, I wanted to link to this thread so you can all see it. Maybe this is how some people are undercutting our prices so significantly? Or at the very least, an unsuspecting architect is buying their resources CHEAP (like 1cr per), and just thinking they have a great miner/supplier...

I thought this might be an ambiguous allegation, or just some random speculation based off of fuzzy facts. Then the poster put up this screenshot

Thats pretty convincing to me, man this is a real game-breaker, if this isn't addressed immediatly and people aren't banned I am pretty much done with this game.

The entire economy is player driven and something like this absolutly kills the game.

wow this sucks, but atleast on my server I don't think it's happaneing that much. If it is, it's only a few people. I'm sure the devs are all over this and will probably ban these people's accounts if they find out who it is.

this is rediculous. The people responsible have violated the terms of service. Bugs are to be reported not exploited. Hacking and cracking is also a violation. If you ask me, SoE should file civil charges against them. After all, this could cause people to quit if its not fixed, people may leave the game, causing SoE to lose money, not to mention the developer's time that SoE would have to pay to fix or prevent this kind of exploit from happening again. The game is bugged as it is, we can't afford to divert developers from improving the game.

That's just my opinion. Inside the gameworld, yes, if your character cheats lies and steals, fine, but I have a REAL problem with people that do it in the real world.

It will be a long time before someone releases the forumla. Why? Because those who have it don't want to share it, and those that have already profited by it won't spill for fear of reprisal from SOE. For it to be released would take someone who is trusted by the cheaters to get it, then reveal it without actually giving in to the temptation to "try it out first" to get a few 100k resources.

FYI - regarding the screenshot... it looks authentic to me. I've checked it out up close and the artifacting varies enough and the numbers line up perfectly, soit doesn't appear to be a cut/paste job, unless it's a very good one.

We know the devs have access to detailed analysis of monetary and XP progression, soI imagine they have a way to quickly hunt down anyone carrying 400k copper and asking them where they got it. I hope the devs come up with a response quickly.

However, sometimes the best method to catch a crook is to not let them know you're onto them. It's possible the devs won't say anything until they have actually nabbed some players who are still assuming they are safe. So if we don't hear anything for a little while, try not to harrass them too much. They may not be able to say anything yet.

How many unknown other smart players out there may have discovered this independently (and only shared with a few close friends and associates), and have stored up millions upon millions of resources which they can use to their own benefit for many many months, warping the economy for all.

How many factories build at 25k, or small houses built for 6k were built with these duped resources?

They seem to have closed that thread. Perhaps it was not true.

Um... how do you ladies know it's not legit? Maybe this guy is the treasurer of a large PA. 100k resources is a day's work for just a medium sized PA that is serious about mining. 7 mil is not that impressive either, especially if an unlimited dup is involved.

Closed thead because it wasn't true? AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ahaha

Maybe it is legit? Why would someone draw attention to their own ability to acquire 8million in credits all by selling one single type of resource and try to make themselves look like they are part of a crooked game-breaking scheme? No one would deliberately try to make themselves look guilty when they were in fact 'legit'. Does anyone here have a secret desire togive themselves the tag of 'exploiter'?

Sometimes I wish people would think about the things they say.

Also, about a week ago, I saw a thread upon a griefing tactic posted in this same forum. The developers deleted that thread too as a form of damage control. The numnut actually told everyone how to do the grief, which in this case was horrible! The next day's patch included a fix for the grief.

Developers deleting a thread about exploits or griefs is a pretty sure sign of a problem.

While it is true they should get on top of these things faster, so they don't have to resort to deleting threads, It is right to delete the threads, once a GAME-BREAKING bug is found. It might also make sense to bring down the servers, but then themoneygrubbing suits at SONY would have to refund us another day of play - god forbid!!

PokPro,

I did think about what I was about to post. You and I have no way of knowing whether it is true or not do we?

It could have been done as a huge jokeor to upset people (such as those that were demanidng aserver wipe or even a shutdown).

Did you view the screenshot AND read the MAIL?

I agree this could be faked, but I have been finding long gone resources for sale on bazaar on flurry server that are selling for about 40% of what they are worth in large amounts. Kinda suspicious for resources which are very high quality to be sold far below market value don't you think? Especially when they are not available any more?

check the screenie and think again:
