Thread: new hotfix on houses
Before the big patch,I had 65 items listed in my med. generic house.After big patch I had 189. Now after hot fix I have 243?...this makes me close shop till something is done about this...we need at least 250 in a medium house...no reason why you can't use your house as astore room and show place. I use packpacks for all my resources and parts...so each pack should only count as 1 item. So if items on vendor dont count and all containers count as 1 items thenI will be happy and then back to businessI can go..till thenI am offically shut down both for crafting and fighting for the time being...and being master arch and master artisanI have ch skills 1 and since pets no longer regen...I cannot even afford to fight to take break from my once ablity to craft and have fun. please do something about this real fast...or else i have no choice to surrender all arch skill and go combat or else quit game all together...I shall be watching what happend till then..wish the rest of you better luck my friends.
Roate A'fey (master arch, temporarily closed)
I too have temporarily closed. I have had 2 houses (med and small) just because I needed the extra space pre patch!. Now my stock house is pretty much usless.. ive had to toss everything in my vendor and place its stock room. I understand that if I leave it there to long it will go poof! so I guess I will have to destroy alot of things. Forget furniture in my home.. All because their database is CRAP and cant handle the game.
the devs are big on keeping the database to a managable size, so the idea that a pack should count as 1 item probably isnt going to be the right answer.
Using Ultima Online as a basis for the test case, we used to be able to place backpacks on the floor, and use them as storage and the servers grew so big it would take hours for backups and clients would crash when you went near a house.
so they implemented the X items per house system (much like we have) and it did work out. but one major difference and inherantly the flaw in this games system.
in UO, you have 5 kinds of metal, steel, shadow,... here we have the possibility of infinite different types, so we are going to be forced to use or through away resources that are using up space.
dont expect that the pack should only count for 1 item, not going to happen.
But the database size itself i can see, would grow largely. I'd say the biggest solution would be to give each house a maximum of 10 or 15 backpacks (or unlocked containers) plus the 250 maximum random items in the house not in containers.
Putting the maximum item capacity at 1000 items total. This is a reasonable number and most ppl would be happy and not exceed this.
Maybe on a different scale depending on house size.
small house = 5 backpacks + 150 items.
medium = 10 backpacks + 200 items.
large = 15 backpacks + 200 items.
PA = 15 backpacks + 250 items.
