Thread: Fusion Generators.. How do they work.. and are they worth it?
Im almost a master architect.. and i need alot of power to run my 5 medium harvs for steel.
Id like to know.. How does a fusion generator work? I havent seen a fusion survey device.. and ive heard they have something to do with radioactive materials.. but radioactive material isnt always on the planet.. where solar and wind are.
What do you do... find a radioactive spot.. and plant a fusion generator?
Id love to know if its worth me going up to fusion... specially if im gonna have to move it around all the time.
Also , how much power do they give out.. does radioactive power play a bigger part in harvs and stuff.. like they give 3 times the power.. or something.?
Thanks for your help.
It's very worth it to use a fusion generator to power your harvesters. At one point, I had 1 fusion generator outputting enough for my 7 heavy harvesters.
The Max Kg/h is 13
The PE of the radioactive mineral will determine the "quantity" of the radioactive mineral. That is, for radioactive minerals with PE equal to or less than 500, they just count as 1 unit of power. So for example, 100 units of radioactive mineral 'a' is just 100 units of power.
For radioactive minerals with PE greater than 500, they contain [(difference in pe)/500]*quantity. So say we have a 100 units of radioactive mineral 'b' and the PE is 553. Then we really have, 116 units of radioactive minerals (in your inventory it will still show as 100, but when you go to deposit power it will say 116)
So it really pays to harvest radioactive minerals, they are truly a far more efficient power source.
Yea, like they said. Just use your mineral survey device and survey for radioactives and plop it down on the best spot.
They pull in 13KGH max. for the same 1440 credits that Wind pulls in for 5KGH and 8KGH for Solar.
check your calculations again boys. Radioactive material is pretty slick.
I pulled 15k out of my Fusion yesterday, and when i went to "Power" a harvester, it said I had 32296 units of power available to "give" it. I had about 3k of solar power, and the PE on this stuff was only 533....
by most calcs i've seen here, that shouldn't have yielded too much more power, but my supply has almost exactly doubled....just wonder if anyone can verify the ACTUAL benefit here...is it just anything over 500 is 2 for 1, or is it actually (or supposed to be, but it's not working) calculated by what amount it is over 500?

You must have performed some basic math error acer.
You have to calculate PE seperately for each stack, and then calculate the power bonus using the equation above for each unique stack of energy that you possess in your inventory. Then add all the sums which will give you the total amount of power available to you to deposit into a harvester. By my calculation you have another influential energy stack in your inventory that your not taking into account.
The equation was verified by agroup that sells power on another server, and I have been also able to verify the equation with multiple stacks of energies with PE over 500.
And that last sweeping, conclusivestatement is based on??? Actually, as someone correctly stated earlier, it scales up according to how much over 500 the stat is - at least on the Radiant server ![]()
So a little over 500 gives you a little over 1.something power per unity. I had 2 stacks of radioactives after the last patch - both around 750 quality - and they returned 1.5-ish power per unit. This is based on actual experience and using a calculator, as opposed to guesswork!

Oh, one important thing to add... while Fusions are undoubtedly very worthwhile, it's noting that radioactives can disappear from a planet altogether, which in my experience is not the case with wind and power sources. Best to have a couple of solars tucked away, just in case you find yourself stuck without power once in a while.

or maybe the problem is that i was an idiot, and it was 533 OQ, and 887 PE! oops.
sorry about all of this. and my simple solution for when Radioactive disappears off of my planet?
Get out and see the world. Take a ship to another planet and place it there. with the amount of power it produces, I don't usually have to go more than every couple of days, unless i'm really paranoid about the resource disappearing....which i am!
