Thread: Critical Failures + Pricing Personal Take
Okay Ladies and Gents
Here is my personal experience on Critical Failures. First off im Mon Cal. Been master architect for two weeks now, built 17 Heavy Mineral Harvestors, 4 Large Houses, 2 Fusions, 1 PA Hall, and about 20 medium size structures. I have only failed on 6 combine attempts, (which was 5 structure mods, and 1 wall) I also didnt plan well for all the subcomponents, so I had to make schematics for almost every turbine, small structural mods, ore mining units. I did about 1/2 of the structural mods by hand, the rest were factory runs, as well as all the wall modules by hand.
I experienced less failures as I went up the Furniture Branch.Earlier this week I was at 50k credits, andi've been selling all my structures to fellow guildmates, at 3cr/unit per structure, and I have made about 500k credits this week. I know I can make more money selling my resources on the bazaar, or by my vendors. I personally dont know whats up with all the posts with people complaining about pricing and critical failures. Guess im just having amazing luck so far.
Assuming I was buying my resources at 2cr/unite, lets take 11 large naboo houses,(assuming I sell 10in one week. I sell them for 110k to guildmates, 10 x 110k is 1110k, with one failure out of 11 houses. It costs me 816k to buy the resources and build em.
1110k - 816k = 294k estimated profit. All I would need for this is a factory, and no harvestors, how can people be loosing money if they were to mine all there stuff at 3cr/unit. I know and completly understand that its not fair that weaponsmiths make more money that us, have an easier time getting repeat customers, but selling at 3 credits/unit Im not loosing money, at worst im breaking even.

Either your lucky or I'm unlucky or you're doing something right that I'm doing wrong.
I'm a Master and Mon Calamari also. I'm getting 10% crit failure rate when looking at resource costs over the past 500k res worth of structures. Its a mix of small, medium and mostly large. No PA halls.
Yesterday I had like 4 crit fails while building a batch of 15 Novice Chests. Chests for Pete's sake!!
My crafting tools are +14 and my station is +13 or so. I don't pay attention to material quality or experiment on anything except crafting stations.
My theory is that : Crit failures are random, more likely with higher complexity items and come in waves (possibly due to a poor random number generation algorithm).
Im using the crapiest quality structure and furniture crafting tools of -12.99, I dont even use a structre crafting station, I use my droid which was given to me as a gift, long time ago, So I can't check its quality rating.

you said you did half the structural mods by hand and the rest were factory run. That explains why you don't have many crit failures on large combines.
i am glad you are able to sell your structures, I can't sell any of mine. I am willing to bet I am one of the poorest architects on the corbantis server LOL.
you also said you sell to guild members. I am willing to bet they help you out with your resources also. I have 9 harverstors going, one for steel the other 8 for ore. I make enough ore for maybe 2 heavy mineral extractors in about a weeks time. the 7 wall mods are 14.2 k ore alone. I think i have a total of 12k ore on me atm. I am slowly, very slowly stocking up on ore, but it just takes one day of mad crafting to deplete my resources. I prefer to do most by hand til i become a master for the xp also. I will say that I havent failed on a large combine this week. most of my failures happen with the structure mods, so 250 resources i can handle.
I don't have the backing of a guild though, so in order for me to get the chemical, copper, aluminum, and gas I need for structures I have to buy. so most of my credits go to the bazzaar, not to mention the energy needed for the harvestors. once I get stocked completely up on enough ore though I will be able to put a fusion gen down (have one made havent found aspot for it ). Also when I get all 9 heavies made (right now i am at 2 heavies, and 7 mediums) my resources will be more.
So this is how it is most architects are poor and can't afford to sell structures at 2 credits per. They don't have the backing of others, they don't get xtra lots or resources from others. I keep telling myself that by the time I am a master architect, I wont have to worry about credits and resources. But we shall see. Right now I spend about 3 nights a week doing missions to make enough cash to pay for the resources I don't have. One night i made 60k in artesian missions only to spend 55k on resources. Eventually I won't have to buy all the resources I need, but I travel to the towns that sell cheapest. I will gladly pay 700 credits to travel to a city selling 1k aluminum for 3k credits then pay 3k credits for 500 aluminum.
by the end of the week i find that not only am I broke, but that I have a bunch of deeds for items noone wants. My hope is that eventually I will see someone looking for something I have made already and that they are willing to pay more then 2 credits/resource for it.
Well if I do my math correct, I made approxamatly 169 walls, so 1690 structural mods, even if I did 1/2 of them by hand and the rest were factory, thats still 850 structural mods by hand.
Actually, I dont have guildmates supplying me with any resources, I have 2 novice archtects working underneath me making walls for me at 6k a pop. Heck it takes forever to stock up on ore, I have 4 heavies on ore, 1 on steel, and one floating around for my gas/petrochem one. It takes me a couple hours to get rid of the 10 walls, and 20k ore I get a day from my harvestors. Most of the time, I have enough walls on me to build two large structures a night (excluding PA halls)
Atleast on my server there are discount resources sellers on the bazzar and around meonia, on naboo. I can usually get any extra ore/steel/aluminium/copper for 2-2.5
Dont get stuck with useless deeds, find a master architect, or any arcitecht that will buy wall modules from you, I know id be willing to buy from you if you were on my server. I've seen posts for from master architects, buying from 6k-9k wall modules, all depends on the market, you shouldnt then have to bother doing missions to make money, and get stuck with structures that dont sell. I've only been in this PA for only a week now, after I made master architect, I was Solo before hand.

This weak since monday, i have made about 7 heavies, 2 large houses, 3 or 4 factories, and 2 or 3 medium houses. since sunday i have critted on 3 heavies,5 walls and a large house. Using all sorts of different materials. The whole time i grinded to master on wall modules i never had so many crits. Thats err about 130k of the materials down the drain for me this week. Price for crit failures unless you CAN afford to have a VERY bad streak of luck... Also today two other master friends of mine critted, one large house and 2 medium floras. Both of these friends also apprenticed and grinded up not critting on much.. We all did the furniture line last.. it appaers like the more furniture linei have the worse my crit rate got...
