So..i read on the boards that storage is 75 per lot used. Whew! good thing cause my medium is out of space and im tired of having to use my input hoppers as trash collectors. Finally ill be able to decorate my place and keep all the things i need to craft at hand...

So i shell out the cash, buy a PA hall, figure out how the heck to get 9 lots on one account usable. I juggle things, move things around, put up extra houses with extra vendors to hold things for the move...because emptying 5 vendors sucks...so after hours of moving and shuffling things so my customers wouldnt have to go to a different waypoint ive cleared the vendors, the factories, and removed my former house...

LO AND BEHOLD!

for my 9 lots consumed i get a cap of 250 items in it!!!!!!!!!!!

**edit**??!?!?!

what could POSSIBLY be going through the heads of these people writing this crappile to cap buildings at 250 storage space? dont you WANT me to buy furniture and other nice things from architects? dont you WANT the game to look nice instead of having a sprawling hall filled with 5 vendors and a few backpacks of resources?

Please devs, i need to know your reasoning for this. What is your legitimate reason for capping items in houses at 250? this i need to know before i cancel my subscription in utter frustration.

i am hoping that this is a bug. I am hoping that this is an oversight. I am hoping that it is anything but some idiotic decision made by somefeces flinging code monkeysitting behind a desk at sony, for no other reason than "because 250 was a nice round number"

come on devs...i need to know.

The legitmate reason? They have database issues if you haven't picked up on it yet. POI's one of the most evolutionary spawn types to be seen in a game, had to be taken out because of DB issues. Factories are going to have to be capped at reasonable numbers of runs because of db issues. Remember the Melon controversy? Database.

An engineer and I were talking about how generic they must have coded their databases, like when you do a bazaar lookup its looking through tons of crap that it doesn't need to.

Why can't houses store a ton more than just the furniture itself? Probably because of database. They want less items in the game, not more. Its another reason I feel we (as well as merchants) have not ever been adequatly looked at nor, why we don't have a lot more furniture to create. More items == Bad news.

I don't know if we will ever see this fixxed all the way, if they really hard core shot themeselves in the foot in the beginning, its gonna take a revision of the entire system to fix it all.

Don't hate the devs persay, they get paid to follow a lead developer who gets paid to follow a production designer, who wrote the analysis. It all comes down to how well they engineered, and we don't think they engineered much at all.

Anyhow, you're obviously a hussling player, 5 vendors stocked, hah I stopped that a while back due to merchants borked-ness. The road to recovery is a long one. Keep your suggestions critical but constructive and hope that they fix it in time, or show who you are by your doller and leave and maybe return a year or so from now.

Its a strange time,

Do what I do... I have a med house, 2 lots, for looks, showing my wares, and my home. I have a small house next to it used as a warehouse, again 2 lots. Total I can store 300 items in it and only spent 4 lots. Do the math. I hope this helps.

Yeah alot of people are using a few small houses as warehouses to get around that issue, which in the endwill still cause a problem as far as the DBase is concerned. That's why we're hoping to get an item increase in larger houses to appease the masses.

On the bright side I get sell more small and medium houses for storage. It may not be the best solution, but at least I'm selling

I don't think the cap at 250 is helping the database issue much at all, other than possibly preventing people from buying furniture. People stop putting as much furniture in their house and just drop storage houses is all. They still store as much as they were going to irrespective of the 250 cap. It really just hurts architects. Furniture, Large houses and PA halls suffer. But people still store as much.

How many storage houses do you see as you run around? About half the houses I see are "my storage shack" or something.Out of 3 of us, we all have at least a second account. We have6 medium and small houses ("my storage shack") that are solely for storage. Not a single piece of furniture in these. We 'live' ina PA hall, a large house and a medium house. These have some furniture, but not much due to the 250 limit. Removing this artificial cap wouldn't make us put any more items down. We'd just pickup a couple of the storage shacks and keep roughly the same number of items in the database.

Remove the artificial cap and we would probably all live in a large house instead of all owning multiple mediums. I find it ridiculous that we live in 3 houses and and are forced to place another 6 to store crafter items.

Ciordia9 is right on the money with his post.

This database issue will be crippling to this game. The next thing to go will be the 1000's of different types of resources.

I don't buy the database issues crap... I work on database for a living and I know that Oracle, the database system they use for SWG, is capable of handling TRILLIONS of TERABYTES of information. And trust me, Sony can afford the hardware needed to house a database of this size.

EXCUSES.

EXCUSES.

EXCUSES.

I'm sick of them.

From what Holo talked about in beta when they had a few bugs that were eating up memory.

1) They don't want to have to add even more memory

2) Something about having to pay more for using more?

I don't know how the system works but it was the reason they went with 1 toon per server also. Something about a larger database costing more money.

They hosed themselves with the design they came up with and the players are paying for it now.

Holo said in an email that they will not get rid of the hundreds of thousands of different types of resources so, they have to make up for it somewhere else. Guess where that is? Yep, housing limits and other stuff.
