Thread: Private Sales Will become urgent when Europe joins

I am a master architect. I run a fairly busy shop. I estimate 50%-66% of my business comes via tells or emails and involves specific orders...like "can I have a medium house and 3 solar generators...what price for that pleas". We negotiate, I often trim the price for bulk orders and so on.This is great.

My problem is how the hell do I get my finished goods to my customer. Most customers want their Heavy doodah NOW ! However it is not unusual that when its ready they are not logged on.

I used to put things in bags, name them for the buyer and leave them on the vendor. Lets face it, you buy a bag from a vendor for 200k without knowing whats in it and your gambling big time. However the 'everything in your bag dissapears on a vendor and its meant to be like that' position from the CSR's has tempered that approach a tad.

If I put stuff up on my vendor it just gets bought buy other punters (this initself is not a devastating problem for me...but no good for my intended buyer).

Accepting the fact that your not always playing at the same time as your customers have any of you come up with a cunning plan ?

With the Eurpoean Launch soon this will become even more important.

There is not a good way of doing private sales. If it is someone I don't know I tell them it is on my vendor and get their quick or it could be gone. If it is someone I trust I drop it in my house and give them admin rights till they get it.

I wouldn't worry too much about the European launch. I would imagine there will be seperate European dedicated servers.

If you have the merchant skill for it and a med or large house you can have the "normal" vendor at the entrance where players expect it, and a "special order" vendor way in the back somewhere that you tell the customer where it is. In a med Tatooine house for instance, the basement is an excellent spot for the second vendor.

It isn't foolproof but it might help.

I am luck in that I had a vendor in my private house before they stopped letting you do that. I havent changed the house to public and it doesnt require me to so for now I still have a private vendor.

It would be nice if you could setup your vendor to only sell certain items to certain people.. for instance if player A wants a house and requests one through special order.. you make the house then place it in your vendor and tell the vendor to only sell this house to player A ... that would make things easier.

I think this would be a grand idea even without the european reasoning. People have different playtimes, period.

It can be annoying from both the buyer's and the sellers viewpoints trying to hook up to make a sale. A 'designated purchaser' option would be a great idea for vendors.

Either that or a delivery service. I can't believe we have lasers and starships and no UPS franchise.

The Merchant correspondant has brought this up with the devs. Dont know if/when it will be implemented but they are aware that people want this.
