There is a debate as to if there should be item decay for structures and furnature, initally I voted yesto both. However, I have been thinking.. perhaps a solution would be that maintenance fees as they are nowmight be considered property taxes (maybe even lower those fees a little).. or something similar to that. In place of maintenance fees they mightsubstitute maintenace.. but instead ofmoney it would be inreplacement parts.

An example would be thatyou have a nice house but all of a sudden your door no longer opens as it should.. instead of it opening fast it only opens at a slow pace or maybe only opens 3/4 of the way. To fix this problem you would need to buy a replacement part to fix it. Perhaps inside the house some of the lights stop working and need a replacement bulb (not you dont need to buy a whole new light just the part that is broken). To find what is broken you can simply go to the structure management data pad and it will tell you. As a spin off (and to help droid engineers) perhaps they canmake a component that can be added to a droid where it performs maintenance on your structures (simply give the droid spare parts for it to store and if anything fails it goes to fix it) There is the problem of what if the structure is far away from the house where the droid is stationed... well either the droid can travel there or not implement that and make it so someone has to travel there to fix it in person. What do you guys think about only allowing architects and (maybe) master artisans to repair structures? ... that might overwhelming because of all the structures that are inplace right now... maybe if they slow the rate at which the structure breaks down.

The same idea could be applied to harvesters.. instead of a door not working maybe the hopper is not working properly and you are unable to get the contents out of it.. or perhaps you are unable to select a specific resource and it mines resources as random (like a control panel glitch)

I dunno.. it's late and this message has just been thrown together with some thoughts that have come to me tonight.. please let me know what you think..
