Thread: An I idea I had for decay
I was thinking about harvesters and factories and how often people picked them up and moved them etc. What if they decayed when you redeeded them? Eventually harvesters would wear out and people would need new ones. Of course people don't have to move their harvesters, but there is a penalty in that as well.
Houses are more permanant and I don't think people want to deal with their house disapearing (it already happens without any help) I don't think a house should be able to be redeeded. To me it should be a one time thing. If a person wants to move they can buy a new one.
Furniture is more problimatic. People really don't want their furntiure disapearing on them constantly.
I maintain my car by paying taxes and fees, change the oil, and other maintence, that is fairly constant year to year, yet it is slowly falling apart. Eventually my car will need more than just regular maintence. It will need new parts and much more comprehensive work than my usual maintenece.
Items need to decay over time. They shoudn't decay in a few days, but they shoun't last forever either. There is room I think to find a balance.
