Thread: Harvester Question...
Call me dumb but for the life of me I can't figure out what to do to make medium sized harvesters. What do I need?
I've got Buildings I and enough xp to get Buildings II but I want some medium harvesters first. What do I do?
Thanks.

The faq will probably have more details, but here's a quick rundown:
1) Harvesters are built by architects. Prices range from 500-800 for the personal harvesters (which you may be able to craft if you have artisan Engineering 3 and 4), 50k or so for mediums (especially ones experimented for high extraction rate), and 100k+ for heavies.
2) You use them to strip mine the landscape for resources. Once you survey a high concentration spot, you place the harvester there, put in maintenance and power, tell it what resource to get, and turn it on. The harvester will then run 24/7 pulling in resources. The speed it brings them in depends on the harvesters Base Extraction Rate (BER), and the percentage of the concentration. A 4 BER personal (highest available with this size) on a 50% spot will harvest 2 units per minute. A 10 BER medium (again, that's the highest) will harvest 5 units per minute. A 14 BER heavy (although they may max at 13) will harvest 7 units a minute.
Harvesters needmaintenance and power paid in advance to run. The usage depends on the size class:
Personal: 30 credits maintenance and 25 units of power per hour.
Medium: 60 credits and 50 power per hour.
Heavy: 90 credits and 75 power per hour
From a cost/resource standpoint, a 9 or 10 BER medium is the best way to go, although if you're looking at getting as much of a single type of resource as possible before a shift, a heavy might be better for you.
3) You don't get any xp for using harvesters, although I think they used to give a small amount of surveying xp.
