Hi,

I have seen Wind go up to 9ber.

Whats the max on Solar??

Sorry if that has been discussed already, I couldnt find it

Cheers,

You can't experiment on final assembly nor is the component experimentable, so I think that 8 is currently max. I haven't bothered to build one since the patch because it can't compete with wind.

Really??

Wow, whats the point then??

You can build a 8ber wind no problem, do some research on the resources and you get 9.

Ahh, well, better save some money for the Fusion Generator.

Can't compete with wind on BEr but you'll have trouble finding high concentrations of wind. It's rare to find over 40% wind, when you can easily get 55% solar or more...

And i just assembled one on TC, i got a 7 BER with medium quality resources...

Hmmm, that's a good point Imperio59. Do you find it easy to find high concentrations of radioactives(fusion)?

Funny, I was having a discussion the other night with my architect business partner and she was saying that experimentation on solar and fusion were both broken. Is there any work about when/if this will be fixed?

Both on Chilastra and Wanderhome I have seen periods where Naboo was without Radioactive for 4-7 days. However, it is always available someplace else.

Again - the high concentrations of radioactive, and the high PE bonus make it the blow-away energy source. If you work the numbers, the PE bonus alone makes it (on average) 1.25 units of energy per unit of power.

I always have 1 fusion and 8-11 heavies out on Wanderhome and 1 fusion and 7 heavies out on Chilastra. On Chilastra I am building a very large energy reserve. On Wanderhome I'm building it more slowly. I don't even think about wind or solar as a "backup".

Wanderhome has had mutliple source of radioactive on Naboo until a couple of days ago. One was a 80% class 7 too, sniff

So you really recommend to jump to fusion? I've been discussing it with my biz partner the last couple days. We're finally getting around to upgrading our harvesters and she's making BER8 mediums(she's not quite master yet) and we're getting 8 or 9 BER winds between us. I'm estimating that when she makes a fusion it'll probably end up around 10-12(just a guess). Her argument for waiting until experimentation to be fixed for fusions is the cost of making one is um, 89x(?) a wind and the BER prob won't be much more than a wind. My argument for making one now is that we'll prob get a PE bonus(and I'm going to add ease of finding a good concentration tonight).

What I'll probably do is wait until she gets the next level of experimentation, then have her make one to test with. The general vibe I get from this board is that fusions are hands down better than the others.

edit: this is to respond to the last couple posts(had to step away from my desk)

I'm on Naboo/Sunrunner and I can barely remember a time where there hasn't been any radioactives...in fact there's 3 there now(unless one disappeared today.)

I haven't heard of people making fusions under BER12, although perhaps that's possible.

It's true that you can find solar a bit higher than wind. But then radioactive goes *much* higher (I typically drop my fusions on 75-85% spots) and it has the PE bonus too.

All I'm saying is that there used to be kinda 3 tiers:

- low end - use wind and small harvesters (1 wind would drive 4-5 smalls, so you might have 2 winds and 8 harvs)

- mid - use solar and medium harvesters (1 solar would drive 4-5 mediums)

- high end -use fusions and heavies (1 fusion will drive 8-10 heavies, given the high conc% and PE bonus)

Now with the increased effeciency all across the board, the lack of improvement in solars, and the relative pricing of solar vs wind, I see this kind of scenario:

- low - use 1 wind and 9 smalls (and be pumping 2X what you used to because you are using BER4 harvesters)

- mid - use 2 winds and 8 mediums (and be pumping 2.5X what you used to because you are using BER10)

- high end - use 1 fusion and 9 heavies (and be pumping 1.86X what you used to because you are using BER13)

If someone is on a upgrade path I tell them to just stay with high-effeciency wind a few more days and then jump to fusion.

More things to consider in the Wind vs Solar vs Radiation debate:

1) You can occasionally find two sources of planetary wind or solar to choose from. However, I have yet to see any more than one source of planetary radiation at a time. (wind/solar advantage here)

2) I have yet to see wind or solar power with PE > 500. However, radiation commonly gives you extra potential energy per credit unit spent. (radiation advantage)

3) While this appears to have been fixed, I haveoccasionally noticed a complete lack of any planetary radiation to harvest (or even survey). This was before the last major patch and there now seems to be a consistant source of radiation to pull from. However, it may still be to your advantage to keep high quality solar (or now wind)harvestersin reserve in case radiation dries up again.

The real question here should be why the hell is solar (or even wind) really changing. Anyone who has ever seen the permanent wind and solar farms east of Los Angeles can tell you these sources do not change within a typical lifetime.

Lack of consistancy and reality within this game are my only two problems so far.

I have to disagree with point #1. I do most of my harvesting on naboo and corellia and there are ALWAYS multiple radioactive patches to drop on per planetranging from 40%-80% andoften 2 or more types of radioactive. Once in a while there is no radioactive resource at all on a planet.....just grab a shuttle to another planet you frequent. I've been using fusions for a long time and I've never seen a time where radioactive couldn't be easily found between the primary planets. If you can't handle the stress of multiple planet harvesting you should probably stick with wind and personals hehe.

I disagree with your disagreement. However, I need to further clarify my intent as you might have misunderstood what I really meant (and for that only I am at fault):

There arePLENTY of sources (spots to lay harvesters and separate concentrations). There are *rarely* multiple types/sources of radiation to choose from. I only harvest on naboo and have rarely seen another type of radiation to choose from (I do not have the time to harvest off-worldso your results may vary).

However and at least in the last three nabooian resource cycles, there hasonlybeenONETYPEOF RADIATION TO CHOOSE FROM. If you dont believe me look at your mineral survey tool right now on naboo. I've got mine up and I am seeing only one type on the Chilastra server. Unfortunately, it has been like this for a while now.
