Check www.swgcraft.com for all the schematics.

They take 26,065 units of resources. This includes several components that must come from factory. One of the components (manufacturing mechanism) depends on another component (generator turbine) so you need to plan out your factory runs carefully if you have limited resources.

You always have a chance of critical failing the final assembly - I lost my first fusion attempt to that.

They aren't necessarily "bugged" - we don't know. What we do know is that you can only make them to BER13 or BER14 right now.

Fusion is so much better than the other two sources of energy it isn't funny. If you are serious about mining at all you need to get a fusion going.

Looking back on my experience, I think I would have scraped up the cash to buy one early on and then never worried about power again. That lets you focus all your time on finding and mining minerals. You can pump a lot with the new BER4 smalls and not necessarily have to race up the Installations line. Until you accumulate some very good materials AND get your architect experimentation up, you can't make good medium or heavy harvesters anyway.

Hope this helps you figure it out.

In order to make Fusion Generators, you must have installations IV. To be able to make the highest BER possible, it takes Construction IV and Installations IV (This would give you 9 out of 10 possible experimentation points.) Yes you cannot experiment on the final combine, but you would need to experiment on the sub combines, such as the Ore Mining Unit (Which has a direct relationship to the final BER), and the Manufacturing Mechinism. A fusion generator requires Identical Walls (5), Identical Generators (3), Identical Small Structure Storage Units (4) and Identical Manuf. Mech's (2). This means you have to do at least 4 factory runs to make the required crates, with your generators requiring at least 6 units.

In order to place your harvester you will require at least Novice Artisan, with Survaying IV a real help. You will want to find a concentration at least 80% or above to make good use of a BER 14 Fusion. The higher the better.

If you want to get up and going quickly, find a master arch, and buy at least 1, possibly 2 BER 14 Generators. On my server, I generally charge 150K per generator. Others may be willing to go lower depending on your server.

With a BER 14 generator, on a concentration of 85%,you can easilly pull in 17K+ in ore a day. Maintenance cost is 60/hour (7200/day). Pulling in 17K * 2 and 7200 a day in maintenance, you should be able to recoup you initial outlay (300K) in about 11 days. There after, you are profitable and self sustaining.

If you were to try and grind to INST IV and Construction IV, using the statues path of 2K ore and 1K gems for6000 exp each, it would take youa minuminum of121 combines, therfore you would need 242K in ore and 121K in gems. Assuming you mine this yourself, it would take you (with a BER 13 Heavy on a 65% source of ore) about 19 days to havest just enough ore. This cost would be 10,800 per day in maint, and 1800 power per day. Assuming you have to buy your power for this time, add 1800 per day to your cost. Your total cost to mine the ORE alone is 239400. (Gem's on a 85% resource would take you about 7.5 days to get 121K at the same per day cost as the ORE or about 95K more). Your total outlay would be in the neighbor hood of 339K and 19 days from now you can be finishing up your grinding sessions. If you were to buy the resources needed at the average of 5cpu then your outlay would be 1,815,000c. It would then only take you about a day or a day and 1/2 to grind to the level to make the generators. Now of corse you have to have all of the resources needed, plus the factory runs needed to make the generators, so count on another couple of days. It would take you over 30 days to recoup your 1.8m in buying the minerals needed to grind your way up the tree.

Please remember that the numbers here are worst case scenario's, in order to give you a thurogh understanding on the costs to do your goal.

My suggestion... Buy the harvesters, drop em and get to pulling the ore out of the ground!

I have a question for all you clever architects.

I need to become a fusion power supplier, as to fill a void on my server (Tempest).

There are three options before me.

1. Run up the Installations Tree myself, and build my own fusion generators, thereby burning up resources for gaining xp, and resources for the non-master quality fusion generator. resource cost=maximum, financial cost=minimal, amount of time=maximum

2. Offer my resources to a master architect, locate one, and gain a discount. Pay only for their time. resource cost=medium, financial cost=minimal, amount of time=minimal

3. Just buy the harvestors outright. resource cost=none, financial cost=maximum, amount of time=minimum

Also, tracking down a "working" architect is tough. I have piles of resources, and I hear the generators are bugged at the moment. Considering all these facts, what do you experts think I should do? Please offer me some insight. Also, what do fusion generators usually sell for? And, does anyone know how many resources it takes to make ONE fusion generator?

Thanks!

Wow... some VERY good info. I am glad I asked the right people, as you all are very wise about your craft. Thanks for responding, you have given me very little left to ponder, as the choice is quite clear.

Others have suggested that I wait for the next patch, just to see if there will be any changes to the BER increase on fusions. Clearly, gridning up the tree to make subpar fusions is NOT the way to go, as it will require more resources and time than I am willing to commit. I'll wait, then buy.

Once again, thanks!
