Hi folks,
I just started as a novice architect, and I have to say the grind to get to novice is BRUTAL. Is there something I should grind in order to amake it go a bit faster? I'm currently grinding something that is difficulty level 14 (I've forgotten what it is - some sort of explosive mine thingy if I recall correctly), but it's taking AGES. Is there anything more difficult that I can grind to get faster XP? I looked, but I don't see anything. Maybe I'm using the wrong tool (droid and generic item tool).
I'm not a hologrinder, but I looked on the sticky 'hologrinders look here first' post, but that only seems to help for those who already got to novice.
Please help.

Grind outpersonal harvestors. Takes more resources but you'll get there faster.

Put a bunch of BER8 harvs on the best batch of gemstone and ore you can find - quality matters not. Grind buildings out to get to construction one - you want to make a lot of Gungan head statues. At 2000 Ore and 1000 Gemstone, they're not cheap, but thats around 6.5k exp for each one. And if you have 4 harvs on ore and 2 on gem, at an average of say 6kg/h, you'll be able to make a couple with some left over everyday, and sell houses and buy ore and metal with what you make from the houses - it'll shoot you up right fast. ~7k exp per house, 3338 res per house I think (mostly ore). It's all good.

bonK!BONK!bOnk!
The poster wants to know how to get to novice from Artisan, not out of novice (which gungan heads won't help until after 0-2-0-0).
1 resource used = 2 xp gained (99.995% of the time).
So doing something like wind generators will give the fastest xp per crafting session, but also use the most resources at once.
(note that speederbikes are a horrible xp yeild, and do not follow the 2/1 xp/resource ratio)
Myself, I used to make and experiment on powerups. The xp was low, only 20 per session, but I could sell them for 500 creds each on the bazaar, thus funding myself.

I think you misread the question, you already need construction I to make Gungan head statues, ergo you would already HAVE Novice Arch.
Personal harvesters seems to be the preferred route for most.

Oh, and your numbers are waaaay wrong. Gungan heads on practive are 5250 xp, not 6500.

Get yourself to Eng3 via making mineral survey tools (metal only) in practice mode.
At Eng3 grab some Aluminum, steel, and ore - absolute junk stuff. Craft harvesters in practice mode till you hit Novice Architect. Each one gives about 450ish xp - you can be done in 15-30 minutes easily.
And doing it this way does NOT require "more" (as in *quantity*) resources at all. It does require 3 different resources so you need to pick those up sometime. But in general you get 2 XP for every unit of resource used no matter what item you are crafting.

Beery as most everyone has said here, personal harvesters are the preferred route to get Novice Architect. You get about 500 XP per harvesters so it goes by fairly quick that way.
I'd also recommend you check out the FAQ at the top of our forum here, theres lots of stuff in there that might help you out as a new architect.

Thanks for all the responses. Part of my problem was that I assumed my 'droid and general' crafting tool was good for all general crafting use, but you can't make personal harvesters with it. Although they give general crafting XP, you can't make them withevery crafting tool with 'general' in its name.
Again, thanks.

Beery, just a quick reference to your sig. I can assure you that you are no alone in being a 'non-violent character' I have a staff, I carry it as a threat, but it is an empty threat, I have around 20 combat xp, my ass gets whipped by gnorts, yes gnorts, I am a fish, I flap in the face of danger. Did you ever play Pokemon? Well, I am that inefectual fish 'Goldeen'

Hehe, well my signature refers moreto the fact that my character never doesANY combat at all- I started with that intention. Glad to know there are others about who don't do combat though. I'll amend my sig.
