I'd post this on the "In Testing" forum but there's not a thread for Publish 10 bugs there yet and I want to make sure this is not overlooked. It needs maximum exposure because it affects the underlying component of nearly all our work:
WALL MODULES.
While trying to craft a wall module on TC today I got a bug message saying "Bad Component" when I tried to place a second structure module into the schematic. Any of the structure modules I had would be accepted as the first of 10 items, but no further ones could be added.
This indicates to me that the schematic hasd been broken and is looking for identical Structure Modules, regardless of what it says.
Some people recommended to me "Try it with identical modules and see how it works", apparently not realizing that in order to do so, I would need a Structure Factory... which requires Wall Modules to make! Kind of a catch-22 there.
I gave my factories away when I took a 3-month hiatus and was trying to build one... but if I can't make walls I'm sunk. A Master Architect should not need to rely on someone else for components like Structure Modules.
Please, if you have an architect on TC, go there and make sure to submit a /bug report on this. If a bug of this magnitude gets out onto Live, Architects everywhere are going to be screwed.

Verified. I'm currently a 4441 architect on the TC. I made 10 structure modules by hand, started to make a wall, and when selecting the second structure module got the message you get when a slot is expecting *identical* components.
I've bugged it. I'll also add it to the bug thread when it's up.

Actually, it's even worse than this. Since I had 10 structure modules and couldn't make them into a wall, I tried to make a small house. Same result. So now I'm going through all of the schematics but my guess is that in spite of the "verbage" that says "similar" someone has flipped all architect schmematics to require "identical".
I'll report back here.

I think that is probably a good thing. The more serious it is the quicker it will get noticed by the devs.

If it's not a bug, then it's the stupidest deliberate decision they've ever made.
The only way an architect can make a start is stuff like houses and structures (no one ever got rich selling low-level furniture). It's absurd that an Architect would be expected to buy a structure factory from another architect.
Noprofession has ever relied upon necessary parts being provided by a higher level of the same profession. I think if it were deliberate, they'd have changed the schems to say "identical".

Is it only our professions stuff? and does the description now say identical items or still similar?

I don't know if any other crafting profession has been hit by this, but judging from the comments in the channel, it is only the Architects who have been hit.
The *text* in the schematic still says "similar" (for structural modules or wall modules) but the *behavior* is as if they were required to be identical.
I checked every schematic that I could make at 4441 and every one of them barfed on the second wall or structure module that I tried to use.
I assume that there is a "flag" in the schematic for each component that specifies that they have to be identical or not, and that they have somehow or another either flipped that flag or done away with it.
Honestly, don't they have automated regression tests to uncover if they have broken anything?

If it's not a bug, it's a SERIOUS gate on building structures for storage.

Fewer buildings to store things in equals fewer things stored equals fewer items in the database.
This is perfectly in line with the vendor nerf and character purge.
The implications of this scares the hell out of me.
Maybe they can combine all the survivors onto a single server and have a workable community when it's all said and done. Then they will have successfully removed the M from MMORPG.

They are apparntly currently without a QA manager. Wonder if the old one left, got fired for incompetence or if this is a new position for SOE?
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Announcements&message.id=244
Experience:
- 3+ years MMOG Live experience (or 5 years client/server real time application QA experience)
- 5 years management experience
- Formal training in QA (CMM, TQM or ISO 9000)
- Successful working arrangements with remote teams / clients
- Strongly prefer College Degree and/or technical background
- Prefer experience with automated testing tools and technologies
- Prefer experience with outsourcing overseas
Looks like they outsource their testing. Managing quality at an outsource vendor is pretty difficult. Put them overseas and ya get timezone induced communication lag plus culture and language barriers.
Or maybe its just like what the thread in the merchant forum says, Jar Jar is now running SOE development.

Thanks for submitting bugs and let's keep the attention of the Devs on this.
For great justice!
