Does anyone know what the adv. is?

Like:
-more minerals extracted in the same amount of time.
-cheaper to run.
-easier on power.
-holds more.

I was wondering if its time for me to upgrade to something bigger than a personal harvestor.

1) Produces 2x resources approximatly

2) Uses 2x energy

3) Costs 2x maintenance

4) I think they cost 2 lots but i dont remember for certain.

I have medium harvestors and i see no real point in them unless i am wrong about #4. I am starting to upgrade to large we shall see if again there is no actual advantage to it.

Med harvesterstake up1 lot. Not sure about heavy though.

From what I've read, I think its best to stick with med harvesters out of them all...

The benefit is simply being more productive with the lots you have available. All harvesters take 1 lot, so the larger the harvester the more productive that single land slot is.

There is only ONE advantage of larger harvesters: less lots.

They output double, but cost double...so the ONLY added benefit is that they use one lot.

Now if you are referring to wind/solar/fusion power generators, its a different story. They ALL cost 1500 (I round) a day to run, yet the outputs are VASTLY different. Wind 4, Solar 8, Fusion 13.

SOOO if you only need 10 harvesters running at 2kg/hour there is no need to upgrade to mediums. But if you need 10 harvesters running at 4kg/hour then yup, might as well switch to mediums.

Now...a HUGE downside of the bigger harvesters...is redeeding cost. It costs 3k to redeed a medium and 6k to redeed a large...so be careful! I run 4 mediums and 8 smalls (I lot share.)

The largest extractors are actually *less* efficient from what I've read. They only go up to 7 Kg/H, which is less than double the mediums. And the building cost goes up a LOT more than double. A medium harvester is like building a small house (except gas and chem which are 3x worse). A large one is like building a factory. But I guess if you really need that much ore!

We have replaced all of our harvesters with mediums, except our generic ore field. We have 14 smalls there and let me tell you I am so irritated with having to service all 14 of those bad boys. Sure they are all on the same hill but talk about boring work.

Anyway resource fields shift as well. It's going to be easier to move 7 mediums. So for us it's a factor of time mostly. The fact that we run out of build lots is also a factor. We have a pool of 120 lots sure, but getting a friend to move the harvester he has only seen once and that was a month ago....one extra pain I can do without.
