Thread: What resources should I concentrate on.
I am working towards master architect (currenty master artisan) and have just started placing my first harvester. I was wondering what would be my best route to go for resources.
I know steel, wood and LQ ore are big so should I mainly put my harvesters on these to build up a large supply?
I would like to get a pretty large quantity of each resource before I start making products so I can work on a few other skills.
Well, depends on what you want to make...
Housing: Primarily Low Grade Ore and Metal. It doesn't have to be steel, only a small amount of the metal is required to be steel. So copper, aluminum, steel, you get the drift.
Furniture: Metal, Hides, and Wood. Most metal schematics are non-metal specific.
I'd recommend you go to someplace like www.swgcraft.com and look at the schematics of what you're interested in making, and plan accordingly. Good luck friend!
TONS of ore, preferably carbonate ores so you can kill two birds with one stone (alot of med-level components requires *carbonate* ores). As for how much ores you need, it's NEVER enough. Personally I have 2 medium harvestors + 1 small harvestors on ores 24/7 since two weeks ago, and it's still not enough.
Alot of Steel - alot of components requires steel and it can also be used as just "metal"....again, the two bird deal.
Aluminum - you will need about 500~600 a pop for making factories, medium harvestors, etc.
Inert & reactive gas - They're be needed if you want to build anything from the installation tree.
Hides & Wood - if you want to make furniture, you'll need these babies, but it's not really critical because you can pretty do the other two trees (installation and building) without wood and hide.
When you hit novice architect, Start making structure modules, you'll make hundreds of these, and do NOT destory them. You will need them in the future. When you get tired of making structure modules, make wall modules. Again, you will need them in the future.
I suggest you get Building I as soon as you can because it will allow you to build Structure storage modules which is needed in the installation line of construction. After Building I, go straight up in the installation line so you have access to better harvestors. (some peopel would suggest going up the building Line because people want houses, I belive that factories can make sales too if you can find the right customers.)
Good advice Karlithas.
Also, some people might suggest going up the Furniture Tree first as well. One, because less people do so there's often a market for the stuff. Two, because the Structural Crafting bonuses are in the Furniture Tree. I see a lot of people failing on Medium and Large houses, and I sometimes wonder if it's because they didn't bother with the Furniture tree, since most people seem to do that last or second to last.
To add to the assistance already offered.
I have the following:
4 medium mineral harvestors 3 on ore 1 on metal (normally steel))
1 small chemical harvestor of which i sell 3/4 of what i get to medics etc as you dont need much of it.
1 small gas extractor which I am stockpiling as no one seems to need it.
I am aboput to trade in my 4 med for 3 large harvestors 2 on ore and the other on steel.
I agree, but making furnitures is a pain in the ass for me ![]()
I would go ahead and suggest the following:
Experiementation doesn't seem to effect -much- of anything. Before the Dev make it so that experiementation actually influence the maintainence rate, decay rate, efficiency of the harvestors, there is really no point in investing any xp to that tree until very last.
Quality of the material does -NOT- matter. Place your harvestors on the highest concentration spot and save yourself the pain and the credit of having to run a harvestor on a lower concentrated spot simply because the quality of the material is better. As of right now, quality means -jack- to the end product.
Share harvestors with a fellow crafter and backfill each other on the material needed. I personally don't own a chemical harvestors (although it is needed in some components), but i get it from my weaponsmith friend. 10 lot is -not- enough for all your needs, so you must have at least one friend.
Ok I guess I need to do more missions then to make enough to maintain more harvesters. So far I haven't found any ore over 64% so maybe I should look on other planets for it. Steel has been pretty easy for me to find at least.
Thanks for the advice guys.
