Thread: Artisan basic questions

I have been playing a few weeks but seemed to have picked a very quiet server/planet combo (at least in the times I play - Eurpoean server, started on Talus) so I haven't been able to find any fellow artisans to ask questions of (I am lucky if theres more than 2 other players in town at a time).

1. Why buy a shop - why not use the bazaar? I am guesing the item limit is the answer

2. Which resources with what high qualities are most needed e.g. high conductivity copper, any ore?

3. I have made Engineer4 should I go for Master Artisan first - then decide which (Weapon/Armor/Droid/Architect) speciality (and which speciality would be easiest for first timer)?

4. Should I move planet and/or server to find a more reasonable size market?

Thanks for any pointers.

1. The 3000 credit price limit would be the big problem with the bazaar

2. Well depends on which elite crafting profession you go for but any high overall quality conductivity combo will serve you well

3. I'd go for the advanced profession before master artisan. Architect in my opinion is the easiest because there are less specific resources you need for building. The downside is you need way more of the resources than any other profession. You will probably not be able to get master artisan any time soon anyway because I would guess on Talus you wouldn't be getting any of the 620 apprentice points you'd need for the Master box.

4. I'd also get off of Talus asap, there aren'y many people that aren't on the big three planets, and if they are they're in their own towns with their own craftersand you probably won't see them much. I don't know the population of the European servers but I'd check Coronet, Bestine, and Anchorhead to get a feel. those towns usually have the most foot traffic so if nobody's there then there's nobody anywhere. Could also be the time you play, but thatI don't know

1. Couple reasons to setup a shop with a vendor: The public bazaar has a price limit of 3000 credits which makes it pretty hard to sell high end items. (pretty unusable for us architects except for furniture). Also with your own vendor you don't have to pay the 20 cred listing fee. Its also kind of convenient. And if you build a house near other crafters you can setup a kind of mall area so people are attracted to your shops and you get more business.

2. The quality of the resources really requires on what you are going to build. If you look at an item in the crafting tool, in the bottom right hand corner it will show the qualities of the item that are important. Something like this:

Experimental effectiveness:

Heat resistance 25%

Shock resistance 25%

Unit toughness 50%

SO these are the 3 traits of the resource that count for that item. And the UT counts for half and the other two make up the other half. HR, SR and UT in the 800's or 900's would work well and the other stats don't matter at all.

All sorts of stats are valualbe for different kinds of items

3. You don't NEED to get master artisan. Look at the schematics that the skill box gives you and thats what you get. There isn't a requirement to be a master artisan if your goal is to go for one of the elite crafting professions. It can be handy though as you'll probably find yourself needing some of the electronic components that masters make.

4. That one is up to you. Talus can seem slow on my server but if you find a group of people then its better. I still often end up going to Coronet for deliveries and to pick up stuff.
