Thread: Extraction rate max?
Ok I am a master architect on Flurry and I have been making 13kg heavy mineralharvesters for awhile. Basicaly rebuilding my fleet of harvesters. Now I have started trying to replace my heavy gas and chem harvesters and the best I can get is 12kg. Now the funny thing is my expermination % and overall finished extract rate % is higher than my minerals. Using the same exact materials...actually better because my ore is in the high 960's versus 920's for the steel I am using. Can anyone confirm making 13kg chems or gas harvesters? And if you did what rate of mineral harvesters do you get? Thanks in Advance

This seems a similar thing to my automated flora farms to 9kg yet all my minerials and chemicals are coming out at 10kg even though the same resources are used and the % experimenation remains high 90's
All of my heavies are BER 13. The components are experimented up to 96% or better, the steel is high 900's for SR/DR/UT, as is the ore. I use Lubricating Oil for the chemical.
I have noticed something... it's not good enough to just get components to rate 6. I experimented with using some 81% rate 6 components, and could NOT get a 13. You need to get high 90's on your components.

Ok that maybe it...however as I said before I am using the same components that I used on my heavy minerals. So I am not exactly sure what to make of this. The extraction rates on the super drilling pumps or whatever they are called are 6's. But maybe I'll make a new run of them and use my absolute best materials. Anyway thanks for all the input all.

Some comments:
- ignore the "rate" on the component - strive for the maximum possible percentage - the rate would show "5" if it was "5.00000001" or "5.9999999" - but the underlying number *is* taken into account - and the final rate of the harvester depends on this component *plus* the final assembly quality
- since the different components and different final assemblies can take different resources and/or different ratios, it isn't enough to say "oh, I used the same stuff for something else and it was fine" - you have to look at your best materials for that particular schematic
- use lube oil for the "chemical" whenever it appears, since lube oil doesn't have have UT, HR, or SR then it doesn't count in the calculation and therefore doesn't pull your numbers down
- there is a spreadsheet here (look for the "crafters assistant thread) that helps you calculate all of this
I am making all 13's on Scylla. Make sure the mining unit is rate 6, that is what is important rather than the experimentation %, if it is only a 5 you will never get to 13 on the final build no matter how good your experimentation is.
If it's not thatthen I have no idea why ! ![]()
The chemical is probably the reason that you're getting lower rates for the gas / chem than you got with the mineral. The turbo fluidic pump uses a bit of chemical and the ore mining unit uses none. Then the final combine for gas & chem uses more chemical than minerals too.
I think using lube oil might fix it like previously recommended.
