Thread: Missing Resources Help please

Yesterday I got the not so bright idea to put my resources on a vendor by my grafting station. After I loaded them I decided I did not care for the vendor so I withdrew all the items and put them back in the hoppers of my crafting stations. I then created another vendor and was going to put the items on it. More than half o my items were gone.. just disappeared. Some cannot be replaced.

Do you know if this is a bug? I thought the stuff might reappear after re-set this am but alas they did not. I am so upset and disgusted. Also in a lot of trouble with my game partner who paid for the high dollar resources and has orders waiting.

I have turned in a bug report as well as a ticket.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is my stuff gone forever?

Thanks

These are the two scenarios

1.) its gone forever

2.) it'll show up in 2-4 weeks

Why might it show up in 2 to 4 weeks?

Is this a known bug or did I do something wrong?

you did nothing wrong...this is probably whats called a rollback. Something that happens to vendors and a few things are deleted..

It could also reappear within 1-2 days. I've had plenty of items disappear from inventory only to pop up the next day.

I believe I read on these boards a while back that the crafting station hopper wasn't a safe place to put items as the had a tendency to disappear. A factory hopper on the other hand can hold items indefinitely.

I never, ever store stuff in the crafting station hoppers - period.

If you need storage space, you have a three alternatives in my book

(a) Get a storage house (borrow some lots from a friend, an alt, a PA buddy or a cross server swap).

(b) Leave them in your factory output/input hopper until needed

(c) Leave them in your bank.

If you have run out of all of the above, then I might suggest that you are carrying way too many components and resources.

If you are missing items though, don't just accept it, submit a CSR report and wait. I have done this everytime I have lost items (even through Factory manufacturing bugs) and have always been contacted within 3 days and have always receivedthe lost resourcesbackeverytime. One word of advice, be specific with what you have lost. Tell them "I have lost 125,678 units of Moobonate Duranium Steel and 15 Small Storage Units" and they will give you back that amount of that resource (and the resources required to recreate the components - please note that they can't give you back components. If you tell them "Oh, I lost some steel, some ore and a couple of turbines" they wont do squat.

Waiting till a server reset to occur to get stuff back is one way, but not something I would advise doing. Log the CSR report straightaway and then after the restart, if the resources/components haven't reappeared, submit a report addendum stating "they still have not returned after the restart".

And I say this all from experience.

Thank you so much for your help. I will try your advice. I was hoping they would reappear after the restart but alas they did not. I feel just awful about losing my partners resources. Almost enough so to quit playing. Did not go on last night, except to check and try to buy more resources, because of this issue. It is one thing if the resources belonged to me, quiet another that they belonged to someone else. Because of that I cannot let this just drop.

Thank you,

Shadee... I can understand your concern. I think we've all been hit with missing/lost stuff at one point or another, and it really stinks.

I will say that the last time I had a problem with stuff disappearing, what I did is camp out and ENSURE that I had ample room in my inventory for it to return. Sure enough, about 3 days later, my items were back. I'm not sure if this will be the case for you, but it's worth a shot.

As for irreplaceable resources.... well, nothing is irreplaceable. At some point, a resource shift will come about, and those nice resources will return. I know it's a lot of work, and you shouldn't have to go through it just for a game bug... but it will happen eventually.

I think your partner will understand that it wasn't your fault and that you didn't "lose" his stuff... it just disappeared.

I can relate to feeling like you want to quit... I've felt that way myself over some nasty bugs. But I hope you stick it out anyway. I think the developers work very hard to help us out and to prevent problems like this from happening again. And there is always a new resource to experiment with tomorrow, if you catch my meaning.

Oh, keep your ticket going as well. A CSR helped me with a problem with a factory about a month ago and I was very happy with the results.

One other thing... check your safety deposit box at the bank. I have never had this happen to me, but I heard someone else mention that some lost items of their appeared in their bank. Worth a run if you ask me.
