Ok we had a lively discussion in guild chat today about fusion energy. Seems we all have different ideas about how potential energy affects the amount of energy units you actually have in a brick of fusion energy. I did a test today and discovered to my surprise that a block of 23k of 550 PE fusion energy (class 1) was equivalent to something like 26k energy when adding to a harvester.
I'm sure someone understands this

I am not sure if this is exactly right but, up to 500 PE radioactivewill give energy in a ratio 1:1.
over 500 PE the equation becomes PE/500:1
so for PE 550 you should have got 550/500 : 1 , or 1.1:1. or 25.3k:23k
for PE 991 your 23k would have been 991/500:1, or 1,982:1 or 45,586:23k.
Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong, I am only reporting what I have always understood.

You is correct Band.
Ratio is PE/500 : 1, or PE/500 * Units = Effective Power Units.
So a stack of 1000 PE 750 Radioactives would equate to 1500 Power input to a harvester/factory.

Aaaaah wow, i finally understand how Pe affects energy. Up until know i thought it was broken... Thanks for clearing that up, maybe we should add it to the FAQ

I added a question # 0.5 under the general topic cause it applies to any structure that uses power, i.e. factories as well as harvesters.
