Thread: A new factory bug?

I just started a couple of runs on the structure factory, and as usual, tipped a bunch of stuff in that I had made previously (ie; from output to input hoppers), and added the necessary resources and additional components. Added the schematic and pressed "start".

I come back a while later and find that the run has ended, but only about three quarters of the goods have been made. I check the input hopper and sure enough, its run out of a component that I had in there. Now heres the killer, I had twice the number of components in there that I needed for this run - yet they have all run out??

Now here's the bug.

When I looked at the hopper SIZE on both the input and output hoppers, they were sitting at 100!!!....not 1000 as they should be, but 100. I have been using this factory for months, it had a size of 1000 when I made it, it had a size of 1000 when it got laid down, and it had a hopper size of 1000 a week ago when I last used it.

And what is worse, the combined total of the contents of the input hopper and the output hopper equalled 100 - exactly (14 finished goods, 86 resource and component stacks). What it appears to be doing is deleting stuff from the input hopper to make space for the output hopper, but of course if it deletes a necessary component, the run stops.

A bug report got submitted, but now I have a 3/4 completed schematic for a BER13 Deep Crust Chem, and I'm out at least 2 crates of 97% Turbo units and a couple of 15 unit crates of turbines!!!!

Has anyone else found this - especially the 100 unit hopper sizes?

And can the CSR's give me back my deleted components or do I just blow my remaining6 unit schematic way???

I so hate this game some days - especially these stupid bits of programming.

oh no, I hope not....

I filled a factory input hopper up last night, making 50 fusions. because those damn omus don't crate I filled the input hopper and put the rest of the ingredients, omus and walls that wouldn't all fit in, into the output hopper to make it easier to switch about. Now, I also had some other components, lomus and harv mechs sitting in that same output hopper.

I will check as soon as I can log on, but if that has happened to me as well I am going to be might pi**ed off !

My full sympathies to you, but I hope it is just gonna happen to you...

edit: Oh, I just remembered what else was in that output hopper....

...about 20 medium floras I was holding back to restock my vendor when it got low....

...I don't want to look

My structure factory has 100 input slots and 100 output slots. Always has.

Astronaut - it should be 1000, not 100.

All of my factories have always had 100 for both input and output hopper sizes. I remember when the factory wouldnt remove 'similar' items from crates, I was stuck making 10 crafting stations per run in order to fit 90 subcomponents.

my food factories now stop working when the output hopper reaches 85 .. it seems like when the hopper gets to the 85 unit limit that it tries to make about 2 more units and uses the resources from the input hopper but then stops. i tried turning my factories back on and it just kept eating the ingredients from the input hopper but wouldnt make anything to the output. sorry to hear about your heavy chems .. /comfort

Well it isn't 1000 it is 100. Doesn't matter to me. I make heavy harvesters only. I collect all the resources needed to make a build of 20 identical harvesters before I even start the factory. I make my top BER schematic and put all materials in input hopper at once. All materials are crated(including walls, excluding mining units) When all materials are in hopper I activate factory. I do this because I never lose materials this way. I found that stopping and starting and adding more material half-way through a run would sometimes result in materials and resource going missing. Not all the time but often enough for me to switch to this method.

Well, I got bugged alright, but not quite how I expected.

I know I put in 50 omus, I know I put in 100 mms, I know I did NOT have enough walls in the input hopper. I know I had calculated the resources to within 1k of what was needed. I expected to have to move some walls across after I did some management last night with the omus. Instead I had 3 left over omus, 10 mms, a couple of walls, 5k of metal, the bits and pieces approx what i expected on the other resources, all gen turbines were gone. So I thought, 'here goes, I've got the Stuman bug, better see how many Fusions short'. Nope 50 of them in the output hopper.

WOOT !
