Thread: Streets for PC's
They were looking at it apparently, but there are a few issues for them to solve first (like the 30,000 other more important ingame problems
). It won't happen soon put it that way - and probably not till Patch 9 or 10 (but I would like SOE to take the opportunity and prove me wrong).
It would be nice to have as I know my city looks like the wild west most of the time - and the tree that grows out of our Shuttleport is now a recognised city feature ![]()
Ok, I really don’t know what I am talking about here, but I wonder if it would be easier if we had the option of paving the area around our buildings to the edge of the graphic. Camps and lair/building spawns can level the ground they are on, so why not player buildings? (Within limits) Just use the same mechanism and add pavement art along the ground.
This could be an optional extra slot on a building, possibly even with different pavement art. Then, as the building are constructed next to each other in a player city, the pavement would link and form roads.
We could also build patches of pavement to fill in the gaps, although they would have to be placed without any costs to your lots.
ya know it's funny that if you put up a camp, that the area/ground around it becomes flat for a decent radius of say, 5-10 meters, but they can't do that with, say, a city hall building, where the radias starts at 150 meters for the low level and actually increases as the city does. This is something they CAN do, but I think they just choose to overlook that issue. The same could be said for houses and even harvesters, give a 5-10 meter radius or just within the footprint of the structure. It's not like they can't do it.. I really think they should.
Think about it too, if they did something along those lines, then there wouldn't be a need for pavement, as the ground becomes flat and they can add code to take weeds/trees or high grass out of the area within the radius.
I'm sure its been said before, but doesn't it strike you as really wierd that there are no streets between major cities? I know that Speeder tech is commonplace, but not even a footpath? Player cities are almost always a complete mess, and very disorienting to new visitors - an old fashioned road would help you keep your bearings - "yeah, my house is on the north edge of town, on the main Coronet Road"...
Bigger fish to fry I know, just wierd they didn't put them in to begin with...
