Thread: Made My First BER 10 Medium... Wahayy

Not got master yet, but 2-4-4-2 , and was able to experiment the LOMU to 90% (due to some better steel turning up 900+ in HR/SR/UT) could have got it further since it would allow one more experiment (but would need master for that - which is coming soon), and then in the final combine, (Steel 900+ HR/SR/UT, lube oil, Ore 900+ HR/UT , 500 + SR) managed to get it up to BER 10. Wahay.. (same materials LOMU at 88% = BER 9)

Tis a pain for the heavy's though, since it would appear due to need 2 OMU's from a crate, there is no point making them, but only making a schematic (for a few since expecting fails.....) and then see how it goes.

Must say a Big thanks to Pawlin for his extremely informative guides on these matters.

Suppose i should ask a question also, in that, if make different batches of componets (maybe with different res), eg gen turbines, and then drop the crates(from the 2 factory runs) in the factory input hopper, do they count as being identical?

Cheers

Maik

No, if you try to make a batch of harvesters from your factory then you will need to have all the components from a single factory run of each. When you make the schematic for the harvester it will look at (eg) the generator turbine you are using and will read the serial number from that, this serial number will then be set in the harvester schematic. This means that the schematic is only any use if you put in gen turbines with exactly that serial number, which can only happen if they were all made in the same factory run.

excuse me if i am some kind of nitpicky, but i just wanted to point out that different factory-runs using the same schematic will also result in identical products.

I think he was referring to sub components like the turbine. If you do 2 different factory runs using even the same resources, experimented to the exact same level for all intents and purposes they are identical except in serial number so the subcomponents need to be done all in one factory run if you intend to use that sub component all in one other schematic.

Yup, to clarify, what i meant was, if i generate 2 different schematics, eg 2 runs of 10 turbines

then i guess the serial will be different on the 2nd run, (even if the res/exp were the same) and thus won't be useable in a schematic set to use the first run

alright, but my view of a "factory run" is that i put in the schematic and the ingredients and flip the switch. after it is finished i take out the schematic and the products.

so the difference between my "factory run" and your "factory run" is that i can do multiple runs with the same schematic. (say i got a 800 use schematic, so i could do a 300 unit run and later a 200 unit run and finally a 300 unit run)

just a matter of interpretation though.

Right. Output from 2 different schematics is not identical.

I usually put a designator in the name of the schematic when I'm making a sub component so that I can help tell them apart after the factory makes them. And if you put the designator on the front of the name it shows up better in the inventory and the factory hoppers. e.g. I use the date like "feb8 - Generator Turbine" or "jan23- Generator Turbine".

Oh, yeah ... and congrats on your first BER 10.

Sorry to start a debate, I wasn't clear, but then I didn't think I needed to spell out everything, sometimes there is more satisfaction finding things out for yourself than being spoonfed every detail. I had not anticipated that our fellow architect, having only just made his first BER 10 Medium would yet be into advanced schematic/factory management. My bad.

So now you know, 1 schematic put through a factory once, twice, a hundred times will produce components with identical serial numbers, ergo identical components.

2 (or more) schematics, even if they use exactly the same resources/components will produce 2 (or more) batches with identical serial numbers within each schematic but different between the schematics.
