Item count limits... everyone hates em! I despise them! I never have enough room. My problem is that I'm a crafter AND a designer. I like to build new decorations in houses. I make part of my living selling constructed decorations. The problem being that I cannot even decorate my own house and still be able to craft! When housing first came out, the devs said the item counts were temporary, but everyone seems to have settled for them as the status quo. My biggest problem is they are not consistant. Lets look at the numbers...

each lot a house takes allows 75 items...

each player can have 10 lots...

each player can have a total of 750 items if all they own is houses.

This is contradicted by the fact that th emost you are allowed in any structure is 250 items!

large houses - 6 lots * 75 items = 450 items? nope, only 250!

Pa hall - 9 lots * 75 items = 675 items? nope! only 250!

How can it be right tobe able to carry more items in a backpack than a house can hold?

My point is, their excuse was their data base couldn't handle more, but it already supports the item count PLUS all the extra houses people have to buy to hold it all!

I have 2 accounts. 8 of my 20 lots are harvesters, 2 are a single medium house so my crafting character can have a residence in our city. The other character is nothing but structures holding materials to support my crafting, and a catina for our city. It's a huge pain to have to run from house to house to find materials I need.

Solutions:

1... allow houses FULL USE of the lots they take up! If a large house uses 6 lots, it should be allowed 450 items! If a PA hall takes 9 lots, it should get 675 items!

2... reduce lot requirements of houses to match current limits. 250 items = 3 1/3 lots.

3... allow EACH player ten lots worth of storage, REGARDLESS of how many houses they own! Every player has 750 items without having to buy 10 small houses.

4...reduce stacks... make resources stack to 1 million and crates stack to 1000.

5... a warehouse structure; a single room building available only to master craftsmen which takes only 1 lot and holds 300 items (4 lots worth)

I know this is beating a dead horse, and it is probably not going to change... after all think of all the extra money Sony is making off the extra accounts of people who run out of storage space, but it was worth a try.

No opinions??? You're all perfectly happy with the fact you can carry more items on your person than you can drop in your house? Oh well...

Actually It is Possible to have 1000 items of storage... if you owned all factories... 100 items to the lot

Actually even more than that rofak, assuming you USE the factories and make runs that store in the output bin as well. I'm not 100% positive about this, but the storage limit of the factory itself as viewed on the deed seems to count crates of items as individual items, which is to say if you had 20 crates of 25 items each that would count as 500 items toward the total limit. Again, sort of guessing, but this is what I've seen when I've gotten a system message that a factory shut down for some freaky reason when I've left a lot of stuff in it but the bins aren't at the 100 item limit.

To the original poster...I agree. Total PITA running between houses, factories and the bankbox to find a stack of something you need. You can't tell me that the load I put on the server zooming around on my bike is less than upping the item count in a structure. That item count seems to be nothing to server performance or load until the house is entered, which brings back nightmares of some of my last days in UO when vendor storage started to count towards structure storage. I've tried using one of my vendors for storage of factory runs that I *might* need in the near future but people keep buying it. Oh well... =)

I HAVE read the forums, and I know this has been brought up before. I've been bringing this up since they announced house limits in beta, and though the time they implimented housing. I get the feeling the devs are more than happy to see attitudes like yours... "it's been brought up before, so quit talking about it!"

House limits seriously put a crimp in many people's games. If youre a crafter and have to run harvesters, you have a problem with this. if you're a merchant it's even worse. medium house + merchant tent = only 150 strorage and only 7 lots for harvesters. if you run a factory, thats only 6 lots for harvesters. Make that a structure factory, and now only 5 lots for harvesters! Outgrow your medium house and need another one... now only 3 lots for harvesters.

I know this is just a combat game that they "allow" people to craft in and most players in this game never fill their small house!

I bring this very topic up each week in the roundtable discussions. I try my best to make it on the first page each week... I get completely ignored while TH answers questions all around mine asking for information on their 'fuller implementaiton' that they promised way back on 8-13-03. If the community would pull together and help me out with this topic in the round tables, hopefully they can't ignore it forever. (Hopefully)

Sincerely

The reason many people are not commenting on this is for precisely the reason you state... you are beating a dead horse. This issue has been brought up over and over again. When is it going to change? When they feel they risk the player base.
