Thread: Question: How to properly make Identical Walls?

I've never made a sub-component requiring item in a factory, so bare with me.

1.) How do I make the factory recognize a crate full of Structural modules? Do I have to pull one out, and leave the crate of 99 beside it?

2.) To make Identical walls, do I need to use Identical Structural Mods? IE: If I make a Crate of 100 Structural Modules, do I need to use 10 from that crate, then the other 90 in the factory? Or can I make one wall totally by hand (SM's and all), and use a crate of 100 Structural mods to make Identical walls?

3.) Is it possible to make more than 10 Identical Walls at a time by using multiple crates of SM's?

Take the items out of the crate and put the items in the ingredient hopper.

Ive always took them out of the crate, cant get the factories to see otherwise

anything that has an identical tag, can only be made with identical sub parts. to make that schematic work

so long as those crates have the same parts as the rest of the crates, and those same crates were made with the same parts that the schematic was made of

Oops for got to answer the other questions.

2) No

3) Yes you can make up to a 100 identical wall modules. Crates only hold 10 wall modules at a time. So if you make a 100 identical wall modules you will end up with 10 crates all with the same serial number.

to clarify #2..

Your first answer was right.. more or less.. just remember you can make a schematic of 1000, and as long as you have the same resources, you can run anytime with that schematic and get the same serial number..

When you make the wall schematic, use 10 of the modules from one crate or you will not be able to run the schematic.. it will require modules with the same serial number as you created them with..

so if you had enough materials to make 5 walls now, you could make say 50 blocks, make a wall schematic with 10 of them and then run 4 walls in the factory, and then when you harvest more of the same stuff, load the factory with it, and run more blocks, empty the blocks into the factory and load the wall schematic again, and run more walls.. The most walls you could get that are identical would be 99 of course, but thankfully nothing requires that many identical walls..

Wow I learned something new...You can make schematics with a 1000 uses? I thought 100 was the max.

Novice architect here.

So am i reading this right?

I cannot put full crates back into the ingrediant hopper of my factory?

So to make5 walls in a factory, i have to uncrate 50 structural modules and move them 1 by 1 into the ingrediant hopper?

I sure hope thats a bug! because 50 plus drag and drops for 5 walls sure is tedious.

Okay so... next set of questions then:

Since the factory ingredient In-Box only holds 100 items What do you do?

Can I make a Schematic for 50 walls, put in the ingredients for 9 walls, run them, and have 41 uses left on the wall schematic?

The structural modules do NOT have to be identical. You can make them all by hand if you want to. The wall modules will still be identical even if the structural modules are not. I know this for a fact because I've done it. Also the wall module schematic doesn't mention a serial number for the structural modules, it just asks for 10 of them.

You can only make 9 wall modules at a time in the factory since the input hopper only holds 100 items, and 2 spots are taken by the resource boxes. However you can just keep doing runs over and over again without worries. The serial number you get for the items depends on the schematic used, so you can do a run of wall modules, then run 5 other different things and come back to run wall modules again with the same schematic and all the wall modules you've made will be the same serial number (ie identical)
