Thread: Crafting Success/Failure Lets do some data gathering
I suppose the easiest items in the architect tree to work with are the structural module and the wall module. Complexity 8 and 15 respectively.
The following factors seem to affect successes:
- Durability (material property)
- Crafting Tool quality
These are the most popular. I have used a wide range of materials, mostly because I care more for quantity rather than quality. I have also used the same crafting tools for awhile now. Neither of these factors seemed to have affected my success rate.
I would say (fairly new to it) I have crafted 21 wall modules. In that time I have NEVER failed on a wall, and only failed maybe 5 structural modules total. While I have failed in making small harvesters in the field, I have never failed to create a structure while standing by a crafting station (I'm up to Installations II, Buildings I, nothing else in the Architect tree). I do not sample when crafting. I am also Master Artisan (+100 Artisan Assembly skill)
The only thing I do consistently is stand by a crafting station when creating a wall module or structure. Lately it has been a private crafting station in my home, but I'm not sure of the stats on it.
I believe Artisan Assembly to be relevant to the crafting process of any item regardless of profession. In the elite professions you gain specific bonuses to the profession crafting (structural, weapon, armor, droid(?), food, clothing).
I propose that because artisan is a pre-requisite for any elite crafting profession that any bonus to Artisan Assembly skill helps the crafting of any of them. You gain further bonuses by training in techniques for the elite profession (eg. Contruction I,+5 Structural Crafting) for that type of crafting.
The best way to tell is to see who does not have Domestic Arts at all in the Artisan tree and compare failure rates with similar material qualities at a crafting station.
