Thread: Different Game Play styles = Different Prices
When are people going to realize that different game play styles lead people to sell at different prices? There have been at least 50 posts on price fixing, architect guilds, pricing conventions..... With no end in sight to the discussion on prices of ore and opportunity cost of ore..... People have different motivations, different styles of play and thus different ideas about pricing. Do what works for your, dont complain about other folks. If you can't compete on price find other ways to compete. Offer better service, have model homes so people can see what they are buying.... Hope that the devs put something in that will make quality mean something.
I am going to be foolish and try and identify a few play styles
Some folks want to simply be architects. Build stuff and sell stuff. They don't want to harvest their own materials. These folks think prices should be high.
Architect dabblers (myself) I have my extractors and I run them on the highest mineral present. When resource shifts happen I typcially just shift to the next highest resource. At times if I need a particular resource I will extract the 45% ore instead of 62% copper. I enjoy building stuff, but also run missions, and dabble in other professions. I run missions and sell resources to cover most of my costs. I build for friends and PA members, and if i come across others I sell at low prices, because just about anything looks like profit to me.
Hard core efficient miners/architects. They are interested in being self sufficient and as efficient as possible. Folks who only place extractors on highest concentrations. Spend lots of time maintaining extractors and running an efficient business. These folks run their business tight, may supplement income with missions too. They can sell at a low price, because they have the time and desire to manage their resource business. But they enjoy building things and aren't worried about maxing cash by just selling resourcs they want to sell houses, and as many as possible.
Grinders supplied by PAs.
With all these styles of game play, and each person having a unique personality, it is pointless to discuss pricing. Your rationale works for you, someone elses works for theirs. You can complain all you want about them ruining the profession and your gameplay. Tough, find a way to compete.
I'm sorry. For an architect I see missions as a form of failutre, welfare, you get the point. The minute you are running around doing missions so Joe Blow can get a house for 1.75 credits a resource (a fair deal) you might as well consider yourself an NPC.
Goes back to people not valuing there own time type thing I have been saying.
