Thread: The new sampling macro

OK. So you say you used to be able to type /sample, go do something for 20 minutes and come back ready to sample again. But now you type /sample And after about 3 minutes a window pops up saying something to the tune of, "High quality resource vein found, search it for 300 action points??" and this pop-up questionstops your character from sampling entirely. Your character simply stays kneeling forever awaiting your decision. Obviously, being semi-afk and sampling is no longer an option. It's time to make yourself a macro.

Or maybe you already use a macro, using /sample; /pause; over and over so you can get some good sampling done while you watch the simpsons. But you noticed that typing /samplewhen this question comes upwill not begin your character sampling again, still leaving your character still kneeling and gathering NOTHING. And there is no way with a macro to just click OK on that button. So you need a new macro...

Do Ctrl + A and create a new macro now, and enter these four commandsas the text:

/sample;

/pause 92;

/stand;

/ui action toolbarSlot11;

Now drag the icon into the top right most slot of your hotkeys (they're numbered from 00-11) and keep in mind that you need a capital S in toolbarSlot11;

Your character will now sample continously in a loop, and when you return you will find a little window asking if you want to pursue a good quality sample. Yes, you can still use this. In fact, go ahead and drag that window to the side a little, and you'll see ANOTHER underneath it... and another, and another, and another and another. Feel free to use these, (one at a time or you waste them) for some serious power-sampling upon your return.

If you log in everyday, harvestors are a better bet than this macro. If you only sample on rare occassion for whatever you need at the moment, then this pop-up window is great for you and there's no need to make a macro. But if you're an architech who needs thousands in ore and only log in to really play (non-sampling time) once every few days; then this macro is for you.

But won't using this loop mean you have to log out to get it to stop?

Just delete the macro button in your toolbar, that stops the loop.

I think you need a sit/pause time, or you'll run out of action points.

A friend of mine made a macro similar to this but makes you sit, stand and resample every so many seconds, i set mine to 40 because i have a huge action pool.

Thanks for the advice though, this macro kicks butt if you do it right.

Yeah, this is more or less the one ive been using for over a month. Works great! I'm glad the patch didn't mess it up.

Hmm but with no sit/rest function won't you run out of action?

I tried it and it didn't work. It went through the first cycle just fine, then at the end it said something like "ui actiontoolbarSlot09 subroutine not found"

It wouldn't let me repeat. I wonder if it's another method of reducing macro use.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that doesn't work anymore. Tonight I did:

/kneel

/sample

/pause 5

/sit

/pause 25

/stand

/ui action toolbarSlot 23 (which is shift+F12)

I watched it work a few times, went afk (restroom and drink) and when I came back the **edit** "300 action points?" window was there. Thinking it wassome kind of mistake, I started it up again, watched it cycle 4-5 times, then went afk to read a book. After I finished the chapter (about 12 minutes later) it was there again! I disabled the macro and sampled until my action bar was empy (getting the window twice in the process) and logged off for the night. I'm not going to risk being killed by something overnight unless I know I'll be sampling the whole time

I survived Publish 22 and all I got was the same thing I had 3 days ago.

Benaro, check the synntax of that line of your macro. The correct syntax is /ui action toolbarSlotXX
