Thread: Is the architect profession dead?

That seems to be the consensus among many of the architects I know on Kauri. It was great for the first month, but now the market is almost dead.

I made Master Architect fairly early on, and I can definitely say, the market for high end items, PA Halls in particular, is going, going, gone. I stopped making small stuff (small, medium houses/harvesters so as not to compete with the Novices). The only market seems to be furniture making, and thankfuly, large harvesters. I dont imagine the large harvester market will stand up for long, because the resource market fill follow the structures market into the tank soon. I still get an occasional request for a factory, but its not even worth taking time to bother with. You might say I could do it "for the love of my profession", but lets be real, there's no creativity involved, its click drag and wait.

Anyway, todayI dropped Master Architect, the Furniture and Buildings trees so I could spend points elsewhere on Combat oriented skills.

How's the market for structures on other original servers? I imagine the new servers will support Architects far longer, because it will take longer for the architects to make master (due to not having the benefit of 100% xp from factories).

I find on Lowca the market has dried up quite a bit.

I mostly only get furniture orders now, and a few odds and ends here and there.

So I have started playing on another server to have a combat character

I still sell structures, but not very often, just enough to keep me from going under though. Furniture on the other hand... I never got an order for furniture yet. But I also dont have a house with a vendor, and there is a reason for that... I used to have a house, but it vanished one day, and I still am missing those 2 lots, I wont be building another house for myselfuntil I get those lots back.... need my remaining lots for harvesters.

Its not dead by a long shot.

And you will actually find that a lot of people will still be able to make Master quite quick with the new option they put in that gives bonuses to experience but no items.

I know I made master in 2 weeks and i didnt use my factory once. There are some people who also use macros with the smaller resource requirement items and craft while away from the computer.

In my opinion it is dead. Mainly because of the fact that you can make more money selling resources at 3c each than actually combining them into a structure. There are some exceptions, guildhalls and heavy harvesters but they are just soo much hassle to make (less now you don't need factory walls for harvs) that it just isn't worth going through the ringer for 4c a resource. I'd much rather just plonk my heavy harvs down on alot of the same resource and sell it for 3.

That reminds me, will need to change my sig.
