I am trying to use an equipment factory for the first time, How in the heck to you get it to make something?

I can see where you put the resources, but what about the schematics?

You need to craft something as you usually would, but when the screen comes up asking if you want to experiment, make a prototype, or create a schematic, select "create schematic", then the number of things you want the factory to make. Then put the schematic in the factory and input the proper amount of materials to make the item in the schematic.

To get the "create schematic" option, you do need to be at a crafting station. This option is on the same screen as "create prototype" and "experiment" menu. The schematic loads into your datapad, and you can "access schematic slot" to use it.

Oh, one thing of note. If the product you are using needs sub-components, those sub-compnents must also be made in a factory so they have the same serial numbers.
