Thread: I can't believe I didn't realize this
I know... I shoulda known. I didn't even occur to me that harvesters can pull radioactive as well (hello Captain Obvious!).
And a heavy at BER13 has way more utility than a fusion at BER13.
I can't believe i bothered to make one of these useless hogs
fusion BER14s only requires maint....and you pull at 1BER more
heavy harvestors BER13s require both maint as well as power for 1BER less....so factor that into the equation when calculating worth.
have fun!!

I know, but a 13 heavy has much more utility than a 14 fusion. You can just drop all your harv's on a sweet power spot for a couple days and you're set for a while, then just roll them back to harvesting normal stuff.
I understand the utility point, but can you really afford NOT to use fusion? I personally carry around deeds for 5 fusion in case I come across a sweet spot.
Anyways, on to the math.
Assuming a 70% rads spot, and a PE of 900, here's the daily harvest
Heavy: 13104 base x 1.8 power per unit= 23587 - 1800 power usage= 21787
Fusion: 14112 base x 1.8 power per unit = 25401 (no power usage)
For you greedy folks out there, daily maint / power units (cost per power unit)
Heavy cost per power unit: 2160 maint / 21787 = .09
Fusion cost per power unit: 1440 maint / 25401 = .05
And just because I have the time, if you sold all the power made in one week from one heavy, and one Fusion for 3 per power unityou'd come up with a weekly total profit of
Heavy profit for week: (21787 x 7) x (3 - .9) = 320268cr
Fusion profit for week: (25401 x 7) x (3 - .5) = 444517cr
I don't know about you, but I can always use an extra 124k a week
