Thread: This might seem a stupid question
Here is the primer I email to people in-game when they ask me how to use a factory.
(Any pointers to make this a better primer are appreciated
)
Hope it helps you
The basics of Factories are as follows...
1) Craft an item - or item component - while standing near a Crafting Station that matches the tool you are using. (ie: Food and Chemical for medical crafting or spices)
2) Experiment the final assembly as high as you are able
3) Instead of creating a prototype, Make a Schematic - this is what you load into the factory.
4) Set your factory, add power and maintenance (if you haven't already)
5) From the Radial Menu, Options, Access Schematic Slot
6) From the Radial Menu, Options, Access Input Hopper - load it with the Identical resources or component parts you used to create the schematic.
***Component parts for factory runs need to be from crates of other factory runs!***
***Identical resources means the exact same resources you used to craft the schematic...IE Adobro Lokian Wild Wheat must use Adobro, not some other type of Lokian Wild Wheat or the exact same serial number on other factory-made components***
7) Start the Factory and wait...wait...wait
8) Collect your finished goods and sell, give away, use, etc)
Maulinar,
Thank you for asking this "stupid question." This is teh best and most perfect timed "stupid question" ever asked, as I too am a combatant player diversifying into the realm of crafting (No, not for Jedi purposes, no interest in that. My grandfather was an architect and some of his work still stand in New York City). I have found sheer delight in my role and have a long term plan for my architect. the crafting grind seems a lot less painless than the feign death / 2 million pistol exp grind of the Struggler.. um, I mean Smuggler class.
So ask more of these "stupid questions" please, you're helping me and many others to learn!

Some (all) of these are listed in the architect FAQ - I'm just giving them an explicit plug because of the "stupid question" comment. Look around at those guides and avoid getting the answers to stupid questions via experience. The School of Hard Knocks is always out there but sometimes we can actually learn by listening to others rather than losing a boatload of time or resources to a stupid mistake.
Sorry about the double post, I couldn't find the edit button. I don't browse the boards a lot. Not used to the way they function.

Sadly there isn't an edit button.
