To all:
So which is better?
Polymer with 900 in UT/HR/SR
or
Lubricating Oil without UT/HR/SR
when it comes to making harvestors?

My personal opinion is the lubricating oil as it should technically count as 1000 in those stats rather than the 900 you have. I made a number of BER 13 harvesters and BER 14 Fusion generators using the lubrication oil this way. And to my knowledge that's the best you can make. I've heard some rumors (not sure if they are true though) that you may recieve more critical failures using the lubrication oil. I did not experiance this problem so I can't verifiy it's truthfulness.

If the ((2*UT)+HR+SR)/4 calculation of the polymer is HIGHER than the calculation for your steel / metal / ore, then the polymer will *help* your score. If it is LOWER, then it will hurt your score.
If it is lower, then use Lube Oil instead. If it is higher - *and you need the boost* - then use the Polymer. If it is higher but your steel / metal / ore will get you to the highest BER anyway, I'd use the lube oil.
Personally I have good enough steel / metal / ore to always do well so I just completely ignore polymer and stock huge stacks of lube oil - one less thing to juggle (and pay premiums on).

I *think* that this is in the FAQ - if not, maybe we should add it.
Lube oil *DOES NOT* "count as 1000" at all. If it did, it would *improve* your mix. Instead, it counts as "null" and has *NO IMPACT* on your mix. Since you likely have good steel / metal / ore, then having no impact is a good thing.

I just use Oil....less of a hassle trying have to calculate...why take a chance....Throw a Heavy Chem on a 70% + spot for a week or so and you'll have plenty of oil.

Since using Lube oil in all my crafting - I will never ever use Polymer again. Why? because there is no point as Lube Oil is negated in the equations so hence on the metals you use will count
.
With my current stocks of Omose Duralloy (weighting of 970), and a rubbish lube oil, I always experiment to 97% on everything - and I mean everything. I use the lube oil for every schematic that requires chems (whether it be components or completed harvs). I have a few 100k of the stuff always on hand, and as its easy to mine (you dont care about quality with lube oil), and cheap to buy - its the wonder resource for architects in my opinion.

I thought we'd got past this question, maybe time I bumped my 'How to make a top BER Harvester' thread again ?
