Thread: High HR/SR/UT Steel shifts ALL THE TIME???

I've only been an Architect for a couple weeks now, but it seems (at least on Gorath) that we always have a shift of High HR/ST/UT Steel (930+ weighted average). Is this normal?

Short answer...no.

We had an awesome series of steel on corbantis about a month ago, several spawns off 998 OQ, UT, ST and in the last 3 weeks the best has been 775. I hope the next shift spits out another batch of high grade steel. Buissness was starting to pick up & I only have a few hundred k of the last spawn left.

It isn't there all of the time. And it isn't "godly" all of the time. But it seems that HR/SR/UT steel with above 900 scores is common enough that I don't think anyone on Chilastra or Wanderhome has to really worry about having enough to make high-end harvesters. And don't neglect other metals (e.g., Kammis Iron) either - they can stretch out your steel supply.

Right now I have large amounts (4-5M units) of high-quality steel (5 spawns) and iron (5-6 spawns) such that I could probably just mine junk ore for several months and not run out of steel.

Its pretty random. We didn't have any good 900+ steels for about a month.

Stock up while you've got it.

On Kauri, I can't remember the last time we didn't have a shift of 900+ Duralloy steel. It's been at least a month. I haven't wanted for HQ steel in a very long time. I've got stockpiles to last me through the draught that this streak of good resource-shift luck must be the harbinger of =)

sorry but this guy is misinformed.. we average 900+ steel maybe 1 every 25 days.. on gorath alot of 800+ yes.. but not high 900+.. I have been collecting High steel since october..

The more and more I look at resources the more I am starting to understand the metals and how they work.

It seems (at least on Naritus) that whenever a high quality Arhictect Steel spawns it's a Duralloy Steel. The runner up for good Architect stats is usually Carbonite Steel. So basically whenever I see one of these spawn new I make sure to check the stats right away as they are usually good enough for me to use. I have noticed this has been the story for at least 4-5 weeks running now.

There are other things with metals also such as Mythra Copper always having above average CD+OQ (Weapons) or Polysteel always having very good CD and SR. I am sure it's been discussed many times but there are some 'soft caps' and 'soft floors' on the various resource ratings based on what type of Metal it is I am pretty sure.

sorry i didnt mean to come across as bashing you.. I was merely saying that it is not all that common.. Yes when we DO get them they do seem to come in a bunch.. Before llehoepism it has been almost a month since anything spawned that would provide a strong (High 95% +) efficientcy componant for harvesters(ie mining unit) that was the only point i was making.. Big Momma Has nothing but Love for you

and as The Strider Family says it is true usually always Duralloy and Carbinote steel will most likely have High UT SR HR and DR ..

Easily confirmed at SWGcraft.com which shows the following on Gorath...

Quadirarewioine available now HR 988, SR 950, UT 943

Woabe available 6 days ago HR 951, SR 984, UT 926

Ilehoepism available 19 days ago HR 994, SR 999, UT 936

Mmmmm thats some good steel.

/drool

You could just as easily go a month without getting anything averaging above 900. We had such a month long drought a while ago so I looked at a bunch of servers no SWGcraft to see how often a good steel popped up and it looked like on average you could expect to see something fairly good 900+ averages at least once a month if not more frequently.

As an example of a server that isn't so lucky, right now Bria has a steel at HR 924, SR 888, UT 912 which is kind of low for our uses and thats the BEST they've had for about 2 months.

You are right about that Bria Steel, BUT as a bit of an offset, we have had a bunch of particularily good iron the last month or so. Kamris (sp?) iron has shifted the last 2 or 3 times with very high stats, this has allowed us to use it wherever metal (as opposed to steel) is required and has been high enough to offset steels in the high 800s (880-900), thus allowing us to conserve our highest quality steels for wherever that is a prerequisite. So you needn't feel too sorry for us, we have ways around it.

Yeah, Bria steel has kind of sucked lately. But I also took that Iron approach. Save my high quality steel for the one or two slots in a schematic that use it, and use Iron with an average of 950 or so for the metal or ferrous metal slots. I got myself a nice stash of Alcoagifite, which is I believe one of the the Kamrisirons you're talking about.

On the plus side, when there's no good steel around I can still burn through the average quality stuff in a big hurry by making vehicles. I imagine there's going to be another big rush on those when we're allowed to have more than one in the datapad.
