Hello basicly as the subject states can you give the ability to build and install bridges in player towns? over rivers?

Interesting idea, but how on earth would you know how long to make the bridge ?
"building not permitted here, bridge span insufficient to reach both banks", bit of a bummer if you just used 20 wall modules, 5k Steel, 10k Non-Ferrous Metal and 3k carbonate ore to make it, ![]()

well perhaps you have it in segments. you place the segments and its doesnt have to reach the other side for it to placed.
this way you could add bits at a time or even make a pier

hehe, imagine running for 5 mins across the bridge, only to find it stops, you fall off the end, can't swim....

well perhaps the "ends" dont have any railings. this way it isnt possible to fall off the "sides" but if you reach the end of a bridge that isnt completed you can jump in and swim the rest

I'm thinking now of Isambard Kingdom Brunell, and a competition to make the longest single span bridge in the Galaxy. Now where would that be ?

lol i think the bridge idea is simple yet effective. if anyone has been in the Coren area on Scylla it near enough surrounded with water with only one accesable area via land. at the moment this provides a choke point for combat which is the advantage. opening up bridges would just make the game a bit more relistic
the only bad thing is bridges act as "walls". i noticed the bridges in the static citys you are unable to pass under them so people might just build a bridge for the sake of it forcing people to go all the way around on their vechiles etc

Bridge placement could be like that of Sim City, where you drag to the other side and the terrain/angle have to be sutable.

Longest bridge in the Galaxy would possibly be if you were to set one between Vreni Island and Tyrena, of course a player wouldn't possibly be able to build this bridge being that it's between two static cities hehe
I like this idea, I also think the way to resolve it would be the segments idea mentioned earlier, On Corellia there's a couple of bridges which have been destroyed and they look as if they're in segments.
Regarding the bridges/walls situation, not all end up being like walls, some allow for you to walk underneath them, like the covered bridge in Theed, the bridge seperating the two halves of Tyrena and some others which I can't think of where I've seen them.
Also perhaps another way to resolve the landfill situation, would be that we can turn dips in the ground into ponds filling them with water... and then maybe having little bridges to cross over them. Although I still don't understand why if it's possible to change land to create camps and spawned bases etc... why they can't allow us to modify the land, all they need is a digger type tool or droid and set them to target a specific plot of land and fill it in... it could be like the survey tool where you can specify what size the plot is.

one way to do it would be to make bridge segments, so that each bridge would have 2 end segments and a number of 20m long (for example)intermediate segments.
once complete the deed would say something like Naboo style bridge 60m long placeable on rivers up to 40m wide
that way you can tailor-make bridges to the desired length, although you would have to be able to measure the river width with some degree of accuracy before you built it.
