Thread: What is the most heavy-friendly planet?

If you ignore both NPC and Player cities (which block the construction of any harvesters) and just look at the planetary map (and your experiences), which planet provides the *most* land area suitable for placing heavy harvesters? Any guess as to how much of the raw terrain is buildable? (e.g., 30% 60%)

I'd also be interested in people's opinions on the planet with the least land area suitable for placing heavy harvesters, and the guess on how much is buildable.

Since we don't have a "miner" profession, and since architect both mine their own stuff and deal with the informal mining profession a lot, I thought you guys would have the most insight into this.

Tatooine is quite flat.

Right - Tat has a lot of flat land, as shown on the planetary map. However, sometimes when you get down on the ground and try to place you find a number of small features (gullies, those little "dimples" that you find on Lok) that end up restricting how you can place.

I'm just looking for a notion that, out of the total raw land area of X (Tat in this case), you can actually lay a heavy down on 70% of it (for example), where the other 30% is burned by mountains, lakes, or just "uneven" terrain.

I haven't sat down and tried to figure it out, but my gut says Naboo as the most heavy friendly. There are some wide open spots on Talus too, and Tatooine definately has some wide swaths of area.

As far as the least heavy friendly? Endor perhaps?

I would think it's Lok. Only one NPC city, and generally few player cities. Lots of flat land, just like Tat, but less "stuff" in the way. That is, if you don't count lairs. And lairs that are difficult to remove. But anyway...

Talus fits the bill exactly. Lots of nice open and flat land, nice distances between lairs, etc.

I only ever use heavies and always manage to get a full fleet down whenever a find a (frequently empty) 90%+ spot

I vote LOK, although Tatooine has the huge Lowland Basin area, the rest of Tatooine is too hilly

I'd have to agree with Hork and go with Naboo.

OK - when you look at the raw map, what percentage of it will take heavies? 40% 50% 60% 70%?

i am slllooooowwwwlllllly grinding away at BH with another account because some dumb holo told me to... gah..

anyways... doing this means i have trod over pretty much every square inch of every planet.

Lok by far has the best area for masses of heavy extractors. there are huge areas of flat fround, no mounds, no gullies (like you get on tat or naboo)..

i have seen several spots of 1000 square metres where there is nothing but flat ground.. it has its fair share of hills for sure, but if you look around for them you can fairly easerly find a spot that will fit 100+ extractors in nice neat rows.

Lok, Lok, and Lok..... just look at the global map for Lok... the entire planet is flat (except for that volcano), i would hazard a guess at 80% of Lok is Heavy-Friendly.... and it isn't as populated as the other planets, and no one goes there to plant harvesters except for us 'uber' resource hounds.

Lok is very good, and there are a lot of places that don't even have too many critters roaming around (though maskscent is very nice to have, just in case something spawns right behind you as you're placing your harvester). When you are servicing a harvester, it is a good idea to stay on your vehicle, in case you have to run away quickly.

Don't let the negative AFKophobes get you down. Play the game however you want.

Is the beta testing almost over for this game?
