Many people have the desire to see more recycleable demand for architect products. This could be done fairly simply in several ways.
#1. Item decay
#2. A method to reverse/counteract item decay
#3. Make it an architect only way to fix the decay
#4. Make it easier for professional architects to generate FS XP
#5. Make novice architect more of a viable position.
#6. Give people who wish to RP interior design more of a way to do so.
My idea concerning how to do this is through the use of item "wounds" and item "wound packs". I use the term wound and wound packs so that it does not get confused with normal item damage that happens after cloning/getting beat down by mobs. The term wound is also a familiar concept to anyone who plays galaxies for more than 10 minutes.
Implementation:
#1. Structures will be given a weekely timer cycle. This could be incorporated into the same way cities update (when city update pulses on server it also does a pulse on the houses.
#2. Everytime the structure pulses any item in that structure takes an undetermined number of wounds (1%-10% random w/ possible skill mods that reduce this amount). In the event of the item getting 100% wounds it either poofs or goes to a house "waste bin". The waste bin could hold a certain number of items (perhaps 10) that could be retrieved or removed by a skilled person. In the event that an item goes to the waste bin an email is sent to all persons on the admin list informing them of the problem. This gives the persons who have interest in the item to have a chance to save it.
#3. Wound pack schematics would be added to the architect tree. Possibly to novice in order to give novices something to sell besides ugly furniture. The wound pack may or may not be in the "standard" form use by medics. The method of craft would necessarily revolve around the implementation of the wound pack usage.
#4. Perhaps one of the trees in architect could be transformed to use furniture "heal xp". This would give us a type of xp that could be converted to FS craft xp that does not have such a low conversion rate.
#5.The prefered method of healing the items would be on the structure terminal. This would prevent the following problems:
A. Having to pick up the items and then replace in spot you wanted them.
B. Missing an item and then having to save from trash bin and reposition
